If you think about it, when you're writing you're not telling the truth, right? Right?! Yeah, that sounds right.

In case you didn't know, a story is written

So in case anybody here wanted to, like, read a story written at least in part by me.

    And wasn't aware.

    I'm writing:

    TBind on Pickup
What do Spike, Garble, and Smolder have in common, besides being dragons? They've been summoned to another world at the behest of a needy adventurer who thinks her fortunes are turning with their arrival. No one involved is ready for what comes next.

Alongside the guy who posted it, who I like to hang out with and we've been talking about trying this for a while now.

    After a short break

So, I took a short break from writing A Rich Everglow adventure to write myself a oneshot. It's something I try a little between several different chapters, try brainstorming or dabbling in writing something else.

(Or occasionally trying to continue my on pause stories. I'm probably close to calling it a day forever for Mantle. The remaining )

    A new idea!

Have you... ever had an idea, that was sorta a bad one?

Like, you thought there were a lot of reasonably exciting things that could be done with it, and thought the characters could be explored in an interesting way... But it's starring mostly not-very-popular characters?

Twilight, Spike, and my opinions on them being family

I think I've started to want to see Spike and Twilight as family more seriously.

So... some history: after S5 I had decided on my favorite and least favorite scenes in the season with Spike. Nothing from his actual episode hit either of those, even though it was a terrible episode. I posted this to a forum before, rather than as a blog post, but maybe it deserved a blog, too.

Hiatus for one, writing for another

So, Elemental ReSearch is going on hiatus. Just for a while.

I like the story, but I can't pretend I'm making any progress right now. I know what the next part of ReSearch is going to be, although not exactly how to do it, but... I'm just not making any progress. Not even a couple hundred words a week.

A new idea! · 12:05am Mar 21st, 2017

Have you... ever had an idea, that was sorta a bad one?

Like, you thought there were a lot of reasonably exciting things that could be done with it, and thought the characters could be explored in an interesting way... But it's starring mostly not-very-popular characters?

And then it was taking those characters and taking them out of the environment that most people who would be interested in those characters would want to see them in, and put them in one they probably should never be put in?

And then you wrote it anyway, and did so with less hesitation than many of your well-planned out ideas?

For those of you who do read multiple of my stories, I'm still working on False Heroes, and I'm still committed to actually finishing Mantle... I have pieces of a chapter helping to explain things, that I'm trying to see if I can't assemble better than in infodumps but not succeeding.

There are other things I'm working on, but nothing that's near ready.

But I wrote two chapters of Filthy and Spoiled Rich, intending to send them into the Pathfinder (for the uninitiated: read D&D) world of Everglow, the one with ponies in it, and I'm going to post it tomorrow sometime.

... Which part?

The part where Diamond Tiara's questionably relatable parents have to deal with a world of adventure and danger?

... The guy who writes the setting (David Silver) wrote a series of stories (which he has stopped writing, for now) where Equestrian ponies go to the setting of Everglow (which, as the creator, is his setting). And I read... well probably half of them, by wordcount. The two I didn't read were very long.

But, just a few weeks ago, I had an idea of Filthy Rich going to Everglow and being called to adventure! Which he promptly disregarded in favor of starting a shop instead, because he wants to do what he knows. Then I wrote it... rather quickly.

I need to get more words out if I'm ever to improve, and I need to get them out whether or not I'm 100% confident about the idea... so this story which might seem haphazard and poorly thought out is right there, because I'm interested and the idea is there.

Just confusing to me, like without context.

That's me describing the Filthy and Spoiled Rich in Everglow idea.

I imagine not many people are interested in them. That they are not very popular characters.

And I furthermore imagine most people interested in them are interested in exploring Wealthy Pony Family Drama, and examining their relationship with their daughter and how she could grow under them and why they do what they did.

But instead I'm taking them away from their daughter, and having them to get back from a world of adventure, trying to figure out how to operate in that world well enough to find a way back.

... It will also include why they act like they do, and it will eventually properly address the question of their relationship with their daughter, but it will mostly take place in Everglow.
