    The Knife’s Edge

The other day I got a message from ZanarNaryon telling me they had created a TVTropes page for To Serve In Hell. Now, TVTropes can be a dangerous place to start reading, unless you have a few hours to spend getting lost in it. But if you want to check it out, please

Not with a bang, but a whimper

    Hey friends.

I didn’t used to believe in writer’s block as such. I always thought the phenomenon was a manifestation of something else in a person’s life. I also thought the cure for it was just to sit down and write any garbage you can. Editing should never mix with drafting, and if you can get yourself to stop editing, you’ll achieve more and better drafting—which can then be edited.

Ping 2: Live and In Person

Almost exactly 2.5 years ago, my family and I bought tickets to Whinny City Pony Con 2020. Of course there was no such con, at least not in a physical capacity. But good egg that he is, Charlie Worthley (con organizer extraordinaire) has made it effortless to transfer our tickets from that long-ago time to right now, despite all that’s transpired between.

    Ping

    I live.

    Time's gotten away from me.

2020 got weird. My 2021 started with an honest effort to get back to normal. But after I started getting treated for depression, I began to see more and more ways to improve things in my daily and family life that hadn't fit together very well in years. Including some of the core issues that had pointed me in the direction of MLP in the first place.

    Artistic Expression

It's been too long. Things are great. Really, really great. Not so much for writing, but for different modes of expression and life.

Is it just me, or are Equestria Girls Daring Do and Starlight Glimmer kinda hot? · 6:14am Mar 5th, 2017

In celebration of my 100th blogpost and almost 2 years on FimFiction, I bring you an opportunity to weigh in on the important questions of the day. :derpytongue2:

Now, Lord knows I'm old and married enough that it's downright unbecoming to go anywhere near this, and I don't want to objectify anyone or imply that that's cool. But seriously, look at these character designs:

Dare I say it, Daring Do looks more Equestria Woman than Equestria Girl. And Glimmy seems to peer straight through one's soul, rewarding with approval those who recognize her glory, while reminding the haters that it's never too late to mend.

If there's a point to this, it's to help chronicle the continued downward spiral of my sanity after ~2-3 years of prolonged exposure to cartoon horse. Oh, and to get your take on the question at hand, for SCIENCE!

Congratulations on your hundredth post and 2nd FimFic anniversary! I feel honoured to have been able to follow you for part of this wild ride.

Are these pics legit? (wow I'm out of the loop) Oh my.

You're not the only one whose sanity has been continually chipped away by cartoon horses and their humanoid counterparts. Feel lucky it's only been 2-3 years for you. I've been on this train since late-S1; it's been almost six years. I lost my sanity a long time ago.

Let's just say there's a reason the majority of what I write is EQG even though I prefer the main series. OK, 2 reasons: the 1st being Sunset Shimmer, who is Best Everything. Anime otaku in Japan have a saying: "2D>3D", referencing finding cartoon characters attractive. I think a lot of us can sympathize, even if we are in (or in my case was in) a real relationship. Let me just say: multicoloured humans are a bit more acceptable to what's left of my shame.

Can it really be objectification if the object is fictional? I say thee nay (heh).

Glim-glim's design is gorgeous, and her expression reminds me somewhat of Rarity, so of course I'm gonna think she's hot A.F. Daring-Do looks great too, though I prefer the "younger" models (more expressive faces & no lipstick). But neither of them can ever hold a candle to Sunny-sun. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Wait, when the shit did this happen?! :pinkiegasp:

Ok, I owe at least Sou a proper response here, but let me post my source real quick: https://www.equestriadaily.com/2017/02/eqg-starlight-glimmer-daring-do-new.html

It's okay, though. I searched and found the CAG info quickly enough.

4444421 No, no no no, that came out wrong and I'm deeply sorry. The intent was just to acknowledge his lengthy response without delving into it due to time constraints. But I see I stuck my foot in a phrasing that I didn't intend, and I apologize.

It's okay. I knew that silly~!

And congrats on your time here. It's been very much appreciated.

Hrmm... I say... let's just ship the two and get the best of both worlds. :rainbowdetermined2:

It's not objectifying you're allowed to like the way characters or people look and have reasons for it. For me, eh they're fine for the movie series they're a part of. It's interesting that grown up Dora Daring Do has probably the biggest bust line out of the group. I guess that's what swinging on vines and all does for folks in that universe.

Still, they aren't the hottest. Plenty of other females out there in real life and animation that zip past them by a long shot.
