    Star of the Show 'rewrite'

The first chapter of this story was what bothered me the most, so I think subsequent rewrites will be less entire chapter overhauls and more akin to editing pieces of the chapter that I don't vibe with. With the exception maybe of the chapter where Nemesis storms Ellura HQ in Manehattan, that one may get some significant rewrites. I can't tell when that'll happen of course, I'm on vacation

    First chapter rewrite

The first chapter of this story has been freshly rewritten from scratch. The cancelled tag remains for now.

This does not promise that the story is coming back, all I know is that the first chapter was bothering me and I hated how it was written, so I revised it.

The main thing you need to know is that watchful wings = ellura.

Just so we're absolutely clear on my stance of recent things

Hate is not free speech. If you advocate to give hate a platform on which to speak, you are advocating the spreading of its message. It's not censorship, it's called being a decent fucking human being.

I do not stand for racist or fascist groups, I have zero tolerance for such waste, and if you keep defending its inclusion under the rights of 'free speech', then you are part of the problem.

I'm making Super Mario Maker 2 Levels!

I used to make stuff back on SMM1, but it was pretty beginner level stuff and I had no idea what I was doing.

and the same truth holds here! Kinda. I'm trying to improve.

I'd still definitely consider myself a beginner, so if any of you guys happen to have SMM2 and would like to give me some advice, it'd be appreciated.

I only have two levels so far:

Just got around to watching 'Between dusk and dawn'

Literally the very first scene, Loon and Celly fight a giant mountain turtle

Literally my reaction as I watched:

"Oh, giant mountain turtle? I wrote about that before, though celly and loon were fighting it, not the mane si-"

    Celly and Loon show up

"HOLD UP A SECOND WHAT THE FU-"

The reason there's been no new updates · 9:52pm Feb 19th, 2017

Hey, guys.

I don't like normally talking about my writing process publicly, but I've been getting a lot of messages asking 'when's this story going to continue?' 'You know it's been two years since the last update, right?' and other things along those lines.

I figure it's best to just bite the bullet and tell you guys what's going on.

So I kind of shot myself in the foot in writing this story, I actually had most of the story already planned out, crossovers and all. Two years ago, I was on a semi roll with writing this story. Updates were coming out (at least monthly) and things were rolling along smoothly.

The thing that threw a wrench in the whole project was the last crossover I did with The Masked Face of Fear. That, of course, is definitely not a fault on rikuorasephiroth's side, what happened is that we just live on totally opposite sides of the world, so in order to be able to write with him, to write the last chapter I literally stayed up from 10PM to 6am writing with him and editing before I published that chapter. Don't get me wrong, I love crossovers, but when I get robbed of an entire night of sleep, I tend to get a little annoyed.

What happened next was the whole drama with Displaced. Not sure if all of you know, but I was an admin of the Displaced group for a few months, and tried to iron out some of the imperfections the group was known for. My methods weren't well received, and after some criticism from some select people and a falling out with MidnightChaos, the head admin at the time, I left the group.

That really killed my desire to write anything Displaced anymore. I got a few suggestions from friends like, make the story non-cannon to the displaced verse. The problem with that is that I had actually written a few crossover chapters in other stories that would take place at a point in my story that I had yet to write. That I still have yet to write. So by making the fic seperate from the displaced verse, I'd kind of be fucking over the authors I'd already written with, and I didn't want to do that. I also had a few crossovers planned in my own fic that were kind of integral to the plot. For instance, if you read the fic, you may notice that Nemesis acquired the hellfire chains from ghost rider, but that crossover chapter was never actually posted on The Last Ride because Valthorn and I never kept in contact after we agreed to do the crossover, so now I'm stuck with a weapon that Nemesis technically can't even have because the crossover chapter never even happened, but I went ahead and wrote the story like it had, because I'm an inconsiderate dickwad.

Anyways...

I've kept the story 'on hiatus' because I'm not entirely comfortable with cancelling the story and ending all the work I've put into it completely, but as it is now I'm unsure how to continue it. I've told my future plans to the story for a couple of people and most of them have agreed that it's 'meh' at best.

I don't want to cancel it, but I can't think of any scenario that leaves any impression on my mind rather than 'meh', and the likelihood of it updating dwindles more and more with each day I push it off.

that's not even to speak of how awful the writing of the earlier chapters, and even some of the newer chapters actually is. I keep telling myself I should edit it and fix a lot of the problems, but even then I don't think it's worth the effort, so I don't know what I should do, really.

tl;dr not updating because of inconsistencies, predictable plot, and outright plotholes in some places, and can't decide if I should fix what's there or just continue updating until I finish the story.

Thanks for reading, sorry if this news wasn't to your liking.

Also, don't make your story rely on crossovers. That path leads to madness.

I do not mind if you rewrite it from the ground up to make it something you enjoy. I enjoyed the story so far and its far better than some others i have read on here.:derpytongue2:

Dude your story is amazing, and it's one of the stories that inspired me to write my own displaced story. Please don't give up on it I really want to see more of it.

...I was an admin of the Displaced group for a few months, and tried to iron out some of the imperfections the group was known for.

I believe that, my friends, is a lesson in futility.

Don't abandon it, we need MOAR!

For whatever it's worth, I'd still like to finish our crossover if at all possible.
If anything it might be easier now, given I've been suffering horrendous insomnia lately and my typical time to TRY to sleep is 4 AM on my end.

Oh wow this story... This was one of the few stories I was holding out hope for, do what you want, it was a pretty good story and either option would be amazing.

Considering a couple of Displaced stories went ahead with a reboot, I wouldn't mind you starting over again. Probably a good idea to establish a stronger foundation. Will miss the bro-moments with Gilgamesh, though.
