The End of A 'Not So Simple' Simple Life · 3:48pm Jan 10th, 2017
At long last, Simple Life has come to an end. It's been many years now and it's rather long. The couple certainly have come a long way, and have finally made progress. But this wasn't the original plan.
The original plan I had was to add another 27 chapters for Simple Life. Going into more of their dating life and ending (timeline-wise) in December of 1006 A.D. (so another year's worth of time for Slices of Life). I won't go into what I had planned for the duo here because I want to leave that up to a potential sequel later down the road. I may cut more from the plan to try and trim down the 'sequel' but I certainly don't want to use another 3+ years to do it while readers grow ever tired of waiting or don't want to read such a huge story (it's already pretty large as is). This also means I can freely do smaller stories that would otherwise never be done or added to the main story-lines because of time constraints.
But I couldn't help peering through the mists of the future. Just before Christmas, right when I was starting to think I would never finish these stories, I wrote 'A Winter's Day'. A Rarijack story about the family they had together. This is cannon to the main story. I didn't say it was cannon to the main story because A. I wanted it to be a surprise, and 2. I wasn't sure if or when I would finish Simple Life. This is set, like I mention in the last chapter of Simple Life, 14 years (and 6 months I guess) after that last chapter. Yes, AJ got over her anxieties about spending the night with Rarity. And due to magic (of unicorns and unexpected harmony nature magic thingy), they both bore children. But since they had them so close to one another, Granny Smith decided to move out to the local retirement home to make space for the growing family (this was not sanctioned by either AJ or Big Mac but couldn't stop the elder from doing what she wanted as she is still pretty agile).
So if you want to see some of their future after Simple Life, please go there. Thanks for reading and sticking around so long. I really like this couple, so I may do short stories for them later on or that sequel I mentioned before. But either way, I'll see you guys in the future!
After reading the entire story twice over I can tell you that if you decide to write just more shorts on them or even a long sequel, I will be the happiest reader alive!
If you ever do want to return to them though and are struggling with options on how, I would suggest maybe just giving us the story between the end of A Not So Simple Simple Life and A Winters Day using short stories instead of just a long novel sequel. But as someone who is now a HUGE fan of your story, I must say, I look forward to any Rarijack stories you do in the future!
You are an amazing and inspiring writer and you have filled me with such joy and inspiration that my brain wheels are turning faster and faster towards my own stories I'm working on still!
Thank you so much for all you've done! :)
4504907 I'll answer both of your posts here I've got lots of little stories and a few bigger things I had wanted to do for Rarijack (applety if it floats your boat :P). Same for the other stories, it was just going on for so long that I was getting tired and the readers were getting anxious about the ending and whether it was coming soon or not.
As for how much you like my stories and my writing ability, I appreciate it, really. Sometimes a writer can forget or not ever know how their stories are being received, and it's always really nice to know how it's going. I try for a lot of realism in the story, so it means I usually go overboard with details and the smaller things, but I've always thought that's what helped sell the story in the first place. I'm glad that my writing helped inspire you as you write your own stories, I hope they go well!
As for what I'm doing right now, I still have to finish Taming the Storm, which will take a few chapters. I'm working on some non-brony stories, but lately there's been a lot of real-life work that's been eating up my time and energy. That and I'm a gamer. I can't help playing video games -.-
Thanks for so many comments on the story and this comment on the blog itself. It's always nice to get reminders that the stuff I've done has made many people happy and inspired.
