Weekly Death Blog (12/12-12/18) · 3:57am Dec 19th, 2016

Man, I just don't know what to tell ya, folks.

This week, some great treasures of the small screen died. And so did one of the most influential figures of modern medicine.

The worst part is I somehow missed all of these until I was doing my weekly round-up. Alan Thicke's death came as a complete shock, as did Bernard Fox's. Both of those happened days ago.

Bernard Fox dying...that hurts. He's one of my favorite character actors from yesteryear.

Anyway, we've only got four names on the bullet list this time, but they're all pretty big ones, so let's get to it.

(And yeah, I know that sportscaster guy from Turner Broadcasting died. I had never heard of him before, sorry.)

Here are the notable deaths for the past week from North America, Japan, and select parts of Europe. As usual, please see Wikipedia for a complete list of notable 2016 deaths.

Note: This blog primarily covers actors, writers, and musicians. With few exceptions, notable sports figures are usually not covered in this blog. Political figures are also not covered unless they are exceptionally noteworthy.

PLEASE do not call me out for failing to include this person or that person in the comments. If I haven't heard of them, I haven't heard of them. If my not having heard of someone you have great respect for upsets you, I'm sorry, but I know who I know and I don't know who I don't know.

December 13:
- Alan Thicke, 69, Canadian actor (Growing Pains, Not Quite Human), talk show host (The Alan Thicke Show), and songwriter, heart attack.

December 14:
- Bernard Fox, 89, Welsh-American actor (Bewitched, Titanic, The Mummy), heart failure.

December 17:
- Henry Heimlich, 96, American physician, inventor of the Heimlich maneuver, complications from a heart attack.

December 18:
- Zsa Zsa Gabor, 99, Hungarian-born American actress (Moulin Rouge, Touch of Evil, Lili) and socialite, heart attack.

what is this? the month that hearts give out? should i be worrying about my heart now?

I know its dark but it would of been ironic if the dotor choked

4346000 nah, it just my family has a history of heart issues, i myself have a murmur. its benign at least, but now i feel like i should have it checked, especially since its been a while since i've been to a doctor.

On Saturday a person I know died from brain cancer, a rare strain, with only dozens of cases ever recorded worldwide. The doctors gave him two months... he lived for another five years after that. He died in his sleep, it's comforting to know he wasn't in any pain or suffering when he died, and that he was calm without a worry when death came and took him. He was 14 years old when he passed away, young and cheerful, he was too young to die, and he didn't do anything wrong to deserve that fate. The entire class has gone into shock when we heard of his untimely death, we all had sudden thoughts about him pop up each kid in different times during the week prior to his demise, we even wanted to make a video for him to feel better, but we couldn't manage with the time we had. At the funeral yesterday, I was a meter away from him as he was buried, I didn't feel sad, just empty, I still do, and only time will be able to partially fill that gap that's left. The scar will always remain, the memory of a life cut short, of a kid that never had an opportunity for life, for reasons not under his ability to control. May you Rest In Peace knowing you had friends and family that cared for you and that loved you, and still do, and that they would stay here to carry your legacy and memories on, and that you will continue living through them while looking down on us from wherever you are right now. Rest In Peace Ori, and know that you will always be missed .

Heart attacks galore? NOOO! NOT ! SAVE HIM FROM THE COLD CRUEL WORLD!!!
