My Thoughts are Not My Own · 5:22am Nov 28th, 2016
My muse and I have a love/hate relationship.
My approach to writing is therefore this - I don't write the stories. The characters dictate to me what they are going to be today. That's one of the reasons why you won't see long, deeply-thought out story outlines or whatnot in my notebook, with thousands of words of liner notes dictating what's going to happen from each moment to the next. I come up with a skeletal idea for where I want a scene to go, but after that I let them tell me what they want, as I write it. Sometimes it turns out different than I thought it would, but on the plus side, I get to enjoy reading it as it unfolds
But my muse is flighty, and seeds my mind with ideas whenever she feels like it. Thus, I not only have to keep a paper notebook on hand pretty much at all times, but unless I'm bound by a commission, my plans are subject to change. Yes, I'm still writing up the sequel for Gleam or Shine. Meanwhile however, I ran across some inspiring artwork by Audrarius that...demanded my attention. 7800 words later I ended up with a story.
The muse demanded, and I obeyed. So I'll see about putting this one up by Tuesday. Then it's back to Dusk and his Gleamy.
Hope you like Flutterfantasies!
