Welcome to my Weekly Gaming Blog!

This week's coverage: Pokemon Shuffle and Yo-Kai Watch 2. Coverage of Dragon Quest VII will begin soon; I just haven't been up to starting a brand new game this week, even if it's one I super want to start soon.

Reminder: Genesect is this month's event distribution Pokemon for X, Y, OR, and AS. Genesect can be obtained through GameStop codes through November 24.

(Once again I'm being lazy and not updating my Pokemon X coverage with this month's mythical Pokemon drop. Just suffice to say I've got it & my Pokedex for Gen VI is as close to a complete Pokedex as I've ever come.)

(...and with Gen VII coming in just two weeks, that will soon mean nothing :raritydespair:)

Yo-Kai Watch 2 (Fleshy Souls)

Katie's Diary

Dear Diary,

Ohhhhhhh my gosh!

So the friend Hovernyan wants me to help is...my grandpa?!

Hovernyan asked me to go sixty years into the past with him using a Time Stone in order to help my grandpa. Umm...wow!!

Without waiting for me to agree or ask questions or ANYTHING, Hovernyan whisked us back in time to Harrisville sixty years in the past!

We started looking for Grandpa, but ran into a man who had been inspirited by a "Wicked Youkai", some kind of powerful, evil Youkai that my Youkai Watch can't see. It jumped from the man to Whisper, but before anything else happened, Whisper was whacked by a kid calling himself "Moximous Mask". What a dork...

Hovernyan led us to Grandpa's secret base out in the woods. There, we found out that the dork who smacked Whisper around IS Grandpa! When Hovernyan told Grandpa what he did, Grandpa got mad and stormed off. He's...kind of a jerk...

While searching the shack, we learned that Grandpa actually made the first Youkai Watch, and his version can see Wicked Youkai! He's just missing materials from three places...

...why do I get the feeling this means I'll be fetching the materials for the Watch...?

When we headed for the train station, we found out Hovernyan used up his only Time Stone, meaning we're stuck in the past unless we find a certain Youkai who can help us get back to the future. Fortunately, the Youkai we need hangs around the train station: Miradox, who...I guess is Mirapo's ancestor? With Miradox's help, I can go back to my time whenever I want, or go back to the past. Handy!

Anyway, for now, we headed back to Springdale on the steam train (steam train? Seriously? Umm...pretty sure we had better than that just sixty years ago...) to start looking for the stuff Grandpa Kenny needs.

The Ironworks was closer to the train station, but since I needed to make a quick stop at the Crank-A-Kai, I decided to start at Mount Wildwood, where I found Komajiro hanging out by the shrine. We asked him about Kenny, and he said he may or may not know anything, but whatever he does know is in a letter from his brother Komasan, which he dropped somewhere in town.

Good grief...these Komainu Youkai... >.>;;

While searching for Komajiro's letter, I stopped by Timers & More to find out what weird, stupid thing I'd need to do to get help there. Mr. Goodsight was running the shop and looked exactly the same as he does in my time...what the huh?! Anyway, he wanted a super spicy hot pepper like nothing they have around town. Whisper suggested going to our time to find something there, like maybe at the curry shop. I also dropped by the Ironworks because why not, and ran into Nick Nack, the guy from the Memory Store who sold me back the Youkai Watch. He gave me a Mysterious Marble, which allowed me to see the Wicked Youkai, Badsmella, who was inspiriting the factory workers to make them shiftless. Badsmella was herself the inspirited form of Smogmella, a kind and beautiful Youkai who was controlled by a Wicked Youkai.

Things are getting weird here...

Speaking of weird, the leader of the Fleshy Souls Youkai showed up and took out the Wicked Youkai in one shot!

Once I finished up there, I went looking for Komajiro's lost letter. He'd lost it on Fox Shrine Road, which took me forever to find because in my time, that's the Shopping Street Narrows. Once I finally found it, I took it back to Komajiro and he gave me the Swirly Bell which is a second piece of the special Watch.

With that out of the way, all that was left was to get old man Goodsight his pepper. I went back to my own time, dealt with some stuff that was piling up on me, then headed to the curry restaurant, where they gave me a "Heckapeno". ...wouldn't that be a Mexican pepper? Why does a curry shop have...? You know...nevermind. Back to the past!

Before that, though, I have to tell you about the craziest thing that happened! I was up at Mt. Wildwood where I ran into that creepy farting guy, and he noticed I had an old photo I took with the Yo-Kai Cam earlier in the summer! He was so impressed he farted at me--and then gave me a Select-A-Kai Coin! When I used it in the Crank-A-Kai, it dropped...an empty capsule...

...that sucked in Whisper and Jibanyan and combined them into Bushinyan! They separated afterwards, but I got the Medal for Bushinyan, so...hooray? Weird...

So anyway, I got all the stuff for Grandpa's watch and we went back to his hideout, where he acted like a big jerk. Hovernyan convinced him that I was his comic book superhero sidekick. Now that I have Grandpa's trust, it's time for him to make the special Youkai Watch that'll show us the Wicked Youkai...

- I love all the comedic Whisper abuse in this game. Whisper is such an obnoxious and annoying gasbag that it's fun seeing him violently abused in hilarious ways. XD

Oh yeah. I forgot that if you chose Katie, you'd be helping Kenny instead of Nathaniel...

My current Yo-kai Watch Bony Spirits team is as follows:

*Cruncha (I think you know how extremely rare he is by now, having played the first game...)
*Lie-in Heart
*Siro
*Firewig (Bony Spirits Only Yo-kai
*Mermaidyn
*Shmoopie (for befriending reasons. All praise lord AbdallahSmash026. #BelieveInTheShmoopie)

And I'm only halfway done with the story.

P.S. In Bony Spirits, Arachnus saves Smogmella from the Wicked Yo-kai instead of Toadal Dude.

4284567 My team right now is Flamurice, Signibble, Sailornyan, Tunatic, Quaken, and Cadin. (Cadin's there because evolution; I've already evolved Wiglin passively with EXP orbs.) The only two of those likely to be permanent are Flamurice and Sailornyan; back in YW1 I used Signibble until I had the A-rank watch because Signibble can deal out a surprising amount of damage for a D-rank.

4284680 Sounds like a strong team.

Actually, having said that, I got some more cool Yo-kai. I befriended Sproink from the hot springs, and Jetnyan on the rooftop.

Jetnyan started out at Level 52 while my other Yo-kai were Level 33 on average.:rainbowlaugh:

4284699 Personally I want a team closer to my YW1 team of bestness, but since I only have the C-rank Watch and JUST got the Model Zero watch, I'm making do with what I've got until later.

But yeah Flamurice is probably staying in my team permanently because I just flat out LIKE Flamurice. :D
