    If

Sometimes, I make the mistake of looking at my stories here and their comment sections, and I get that old itch to make pony stuff again. I had a lot of fun doing it, after all, and I do love to entertain. I still have a lot of trouble getting any creative work done, of course. I haven't even had any real interest in it for quite a while, now. But even beyond that... well...

    A Collab Relic

A few years back, Samey90 and I started writing a story. A story about a little group of young pony friends hanging out at a lake. We did most of the writing on it, but it kinda fell by the wayside. I drifted away from ponies and retired, and it looked as though the fic might never see the light of day. But now, that story has finally been

    A Surprise Shadowbolts Story

Do you like the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts? Do you like stories with romance in them? Do you like a grittier and more realistic (and cynical) take on Equestria Girls? Then you might want to have a look at the story below the break. I think you'll like what you find.

And no, it's definitely not the Shadowbolts Adventures series, if that's what you guessed by who's doing this promotion.

    The New Fimfic

Is it April again already? Because this new site update is a joke.

Edit: Okay, it's not a complete joke. There's actually a lot of good stuff in this new update. Bugfixes and cool stuff galore. Buuuut there are also some not-so-good changes, and the flood of new code seems to have broken... everything, at one point or another.

You know, it's telling when you're sitting around and you check what day it is, thinking that there's a new episode coming on Saturday. But then you realize that the season is over, and you feel happy about that. You're glad that there aren't any more episodes for a few months.

That was when I realized just how little I cared for season six in general, when I was relieved that there was no more of it coming. I dunno if I'm gonna watch the next season, in fact. I don't like the directions the show has been going, as of late. Assuming I continue writing, I guess I'd just have to write fics that take place earlier in the series. I suppose that's not so bad. I've already got a few fics like that in the works. I always thought that seemed like a fun challenge.

Definitely gonna keep watching the Equestria Girls stuff, of course. I can never say "no" to more Sunset.

You're feelings on season 6 are pretty much the exact opposite of mine, in that I couldn't get enough of season 6, and was looking forward to every new episode.
Heck, I personally consider season 6 to be easily the best season yet.

As for the EQG films, I'll also continue watching them, but more for Sci-Twi now than Sunset. Don't get me wrong, I like the latter, but I like the former a bit more.

What about the season and the direction of the show turned you off?

Good for you. Not sarcastically, I mean that. It's good that you still enjoy it. Hope it keeps going well for you.

Towards the end of the season, I was dreading each upcoming episode. I feel like the overall quality has dropped. Sure, there were a couple of standout episodes this season that were great, but I feel that was thrown far off balance by the bevy of meh or downright bad episodes (including what may be the new worst episode of the series in my book). Mix that with some off-putting characterization that seems to set the development of some ponies back by years or outright ignores previously established character traits, and I'm left leaning back from the dinner table with a bad taste in my mouth.

But the big thing is the new cast member. I just don't think she works. I can tell by their attempts at retconning that they're trying to salvage her botched entry into the main cast, but I'm just not feeling it. It all feels too contrived, rushed, and forced for my liking. Speaking of contrived, rushed, and forced, the season's end just... wow, I really hope they don't go anywhere with that. What they did in the season finale is one of the directions that worries me. Mix that with Starlight, and I don't have high hopes for the future.

The only directions they've gone that I liked is expanding the dragon stuff, expanding Rarity's business, and the return of Trixie. I just hope they continue with those things and not... whatever it is that they're trying to do with changelings. Though if last season's end and this season are any indication, they'll probably make some saving throws to try and recover from screwing up so hard (again).

Funny thing is, I hardly watched the second half of season six, yet I'm up to date with all the EqG movies. No wonder three out of my five recent stories are Equestria Girls (and the two pony ones could take place anytime in the series).

Welcome to the... well, it's humans, so I guess it's not exactly a herd. Group? Club? Clique?

Ah, yes, of course. Welcome to the Show.

4278831 In terms of EQG songs, I prefer Awesome As I Wanna Be, Unleash the Magic, Midnight in Me, and Stand for Everfree.

4278855
I've actually been tempted for a long time to declare Unleash the Magic to be the best song in the entirety of generation 4 of MLP. They really pulled out all the stops with that one. Gives me chills every time I hear it.

4278896 I don't think I'd go quite that far (The Pony I Want To Be, We'll Make Our Mark, Say Goodbye to the Holiday, and Stand for Everfree are all other serious contenders for best song of G4) but it is up there among the best of the generation.

I'm the exact opposite I liked season 6 but I hate EGs. I actually liked a good chunk of season 6 and ony Newbie Dash pissed me off and Flurry Heart still bothers me but in all I like where the show could potentially go especially with the movie coming out soon. As for Equestria Girls it just looks all the focus is on one character and everybody else is completely useless and it seems too cliche I also think that the girls act too much like their season one selfs (which I thought is what people didn't like about the early episodes) so I find it odd that EGs get so much love right now but I'm not here to say which is better I'm just saying season 6 wasn't so bad and I like what they are doing with the show I guess I just prefer ponies to humans I guess.

What's your favorite season?

And on a side note, how was the fourth EQG movie? I haven't watched it yet and I'm still deciding if I should.

4278954
Focus is actually something the show has usually lacked. It's been spreading its focus over six or even nine characters (the CMC), and it's always been pretty scattershot. The movies have been focusing mostly on two: Twilight and Sunset, albeit they've moved focus to a different Twilight and seem to have left the pony one behind. As a result, we've gotten tons of development for those focus characters, more development than most ponies get in a whole season. EG mostly gets love for Sunset, I think, who has become what many consider to be the best character in gen 4, due to her visible development. And the humans acting more like their pony counterparts did in season one doesn't annoy me because it makes sense in context. They haven't gotten any of the friendship lessons or anything that the ponies did.

I don't think I can answer that fairly. Season 4 feels like it stands out, but because I entered the fandom not long after season 3 ended, season 4 was the first season I followed along with. And the fourth Equestria Girls movie was okay. Had many little things I liked, but it felt lackluster.
