Average brony obsessing over the main cast with an unhealthy desire to see them in a dark fantasy setting.

:ajsmug: Morning Everyone

:derpytongue2: Another week goes by, and another chapter comes out! I've been surprisingly on time lately, but that's probably because I don't really have any games to focus on for any particular reason. The crow has been introduced, we figured out just what exactly the beast is, and now we have a new mystery on our hands that is sure to lead to more questions in the future. But I'd certainly like to hear what anyone thought about the chapter. I thought it would be fun to try and start in the middle of everything that's going on and have Applejack remember what happened earlier as time went by. I like how it turned out so, I'm hoping it goes over well with everyone else who reads this.
In any case, my outline is proceeding according to plan, so at the very least that's good. However, I will have to add to it again this week. I didn't get as many future chapters planned out as I wanted to last time, and I don't really want the story to go by too fast. There should be a change of pace coming in a few chapters here that looks at Applejack's daily life with the family, so that should be... well, something. I don't know that I've ever written any kind of 'slice of life' scene before, but it's going to happen in a few weeks regardless.

:applejackunsure: I've decided that I'm just less of a dark souls addict these days. It's not so much that I won't blow twelve hours on the game in one sitting, but more that I just don't like the current dark souls as much as I used to. I'll put it this way, I can only handle so much of Dark souls' shit these days. I started the DLC and after exploring some, I was just kind of like whatever, and ran through the maps as fast as possible. I figure I was more cautious and excited to explore in bloodborne than I was the giant expanse of snowy rot. And by Giant, I mean about 4 hours of exploration on NG+ since I didn't actually have a character I wanted to go through the game with still on new game. Hell, I don't even like playing through the game anymore, I just find it tedious with little satisfaction.
The dlc boss was cool, but way too long for one fight, even if I did appreciate the fact that they basically ripped the move sets from Maria and Gehrman. She even has the spin jump! It was cool to see, but I knew it well enough to just beat her to her jump. Definitely one of those fights where I wish I didn't limit myself to using the Black Knight Great axe. A straight sword would have been nice to have. (T-T where are my transformation attacks?) At first I thought it was Dark Souls that had ruined other games for me, but alas, Bloodborne has ruined Dark souls for me. Tis' but the ultimate punishment for ascending to the cosmos I suppose.
The new arena system is sometimes fun, but the fact that relying on parries is basically no longer a thing in this game, it's not as satisfying as the arena in DS2 was. Sure, you can get a parry, but anything bigger than a great sword and a decent opponent, and you will never hit them outside of clusterfuck mode. which is also fun... if you're on the winning team. Otherwise, it's just a merciless beat down over and over again. One time, I got into a 2v2 brawl, and my partner didn't show up. Needless to say, I lost, but it was all in good fun since everybody put their weapons away and the other two phantoms and I just beat each other with our bare hands for appx. three minutes. I got... a kill. Worth. But even so, there's currently no reward for doing anything in the arena, so it's play at your own discretion. The arena is probably my only motivation to play DS3 now, and it's just not enough to get me to start up the game. Oh well, it's better than nothing. Over Powered weapons are the only thing allowed in the arena it seems, and I hate conforming to the meta. Shit outta luck I suppose.

:raritywink: Well, that's about all I have this week. Barely went to class, nor did I have an art project this time around, so nothing to show for the lack of things I did, save for the new chapter itself.
Until next time,
-KCZ

It's times like these that I sorta wish I knew what on Earth is happening in Dark Souls just so that I could understand one word of that.

4287617 :ajsmug: You might try watching a let's play some time. Oroboro the ninja and vaatividyia do a good job with their videos. The first you go for gameplay, the second you go for story. DamnNoHtml also has pretty great stuff. Sometimes, dark souls is relatively hard to get into because of the incredily steep learning curve it has, but once you get into one of them, the others usually follow. I'll add links to this once my computer gets internet back.

4287757 See, I've never heard of the guys you recommended. Every let's play that I've ever watched for Dark Souls was very mainstream and irritating, with sporadic, intermittent content jumps designed to skip the story and show the highlights. Well, what they categorize as highlights and what I classify as "loud man exaggeratedly screaming into microphone rather obnoxiously." It made those games seem repulsive to me, because every time I attempted to learn about them I would just end up with that image in me brain.

Not fun. I think I'll try the ones that you recommended

4287795 Oh yeah, definitely. These guys are actually good at the game and don't typically have their faces on screen at all. Vaati especially, since all his videos have a really high production value.
