Average brony obsessing over the main cast with an unhealthy desire to see them in a dark fantasy setting.

Spring Anime Wrap-up · 5:16am April 7th

We Are Fighting Dreamers!

So, this season, there was one late comer anime called:

Ninja Kamui

This is a Cartoon Network/Adult Swim series, and let me tell you, it is the most mixed bag I have ever watched. It hasn't ended yet of course since it started mid way through the season, but the dialogue here is quite frankly, worse than your very first fanfic. Yes, that's right, it's that bad.

"My stinky ass!"

"Ugh, why'd you have to tell me all that stuff? I mean, ninjas? It doesn't get more dangerous than that.

Now, this isn't a to give the English or Japanese VAs a bad time, both seem to have an equally terrible script and they do what they can. But the dialogue is genuinely horrible, and I kinda watch at 2x speed until action happens. Action in this series is amazing and I can't praise it enough. but, like, it's bad. Real bad. The plot is uninspired, but not unsalvagable, there are some neat ideas, and a real writer might be able to make the structure of this great. Solid 6-7/10. I'd recommend it if you need a dumb action show to watch. It is a cyberpunk naruto crossover if you enjoy that kind of thing.

The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic

1) this is not the other show about "healing magic." 2) Yes, this is the 1234567th isekai anime of the decade.
Now, all that aside, this was my favorite anime of the season. I looked forward to every episode and to be totally honest, I don't know what makes it so unique, but it feels that way? The plot goes: MC is not the hero summoned to save the world. Instead, he's an accident because he was with the heroes at the time they were summoned, and got caught up in it. From there on, we find out about his not unique, but rare magic, he meets his mommy cough mentor, and then we have a long training arc leading up to the real first battle against the invading demons. there's no reason this should be so good, but it just is. The characters are well written, the plot is pretty standard, but tight and concise, and everything just works.

This is definitely a super solid show, but I can't give it more than an 8 because it's just good. I'm very excited for more though.

Tales of Wedding Rings

This is mediocre soft core porn. That's it. the plot is meh, it's got that will they won't they shit with the main couple, and honestly, if you're gonna go this hard anyway, just do it. Meh.

4/10, the tits were nice sometimes.

Chained Soldier

This is slightly better softcore porn with a hint of shounen battle anime in it. It is good at its best, but mediocre at its worst. Tenka is best girl, and I could be convinced to watch more. This was the show that I'd put aside for when I had nothing else to watch and needed an anime to go with my meal. fine for popcorn I suppose

6/10 It's okay.

Gushing Over Magical Girls

Now this is porn. Not softcore, not straight, all girls, and even more explicit than the manga. Add on a shojo battle anime with powerlevels based on how uncontrollably horny one is, and you have a very funny horny anime that gives you exactly what it says it will. I'm not even going to pretend I don't love this absolute mess of degeneracy. My depiction of Fluttershy in Star Overhead is basically Utena Hiragi, and nothing pleases me more.

10/10, do not watch this around anyone else. The ED fuckin' slaps.

Shangri-la Frontier

See 2023 Anime wrap up for more details. The TLDR is that this ends on an unsatisfying episode to end on, but has another 2 cour season starting October 4th, so I'm not even mad. I am current with the manga, and I will not stop watching or reading it, I am truly addicted.

10/10 For how much I enjoy it. FZMZ is a cool group.

The Apothecary Diaries

See 2023 Anime wrap up for more details. Again, this show is just very good storytelling featuring a compelling lead who steals the show if she's on screen or not. It helps that the ending of this season is utterly tragically bitter sweet, and the drama is amazing leading up to all the reveals. There's more of it coming as well, so yeah. Get on that.

10/10, this show was awesome.

Undead Unluck

This is a pretty traditional shounen battle anime all things considered, but being from the lead girl's prespective, the low key romance, and the neat direction the series takes makes it something more. I can't say it was my favorite thing of the season, but I did watch every week and it never left me feeling bad after an episode. It was just fun, and I hope there's more.

8/10, Wicked sick.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

I don't need to say anything about this because it seems like everyone is talking about this. The mems are everywhere, the music is great, the storytelling is top notch, and the show is just about a trope filled as it can be, yet it never goes too hard on anything but the animation. There is no reason at all the animation of this show needed to be so good, but it's amazing, and it cannot be understated how fantastic Frieren really is. If you watch nothing else on this list, watch Frieren.

10/10, anime of the year contender.

Delicious in Dungeon

Alright, I know this isn't actually finished, but I'm going to rate it here because I have a problem and went ahead and read the entire manga in one sitting because I do that to myself.

Guys, did you know that demons are evil? Like, this is it. That's the big twist. Demons are evil. It's crazy how a show that, thus far in the anime, doesn't even begin to hint at how it all ends or even how it goes. Yet, in hindsight, there were a ton of hints about everything. It's so tight and well written that I can't fathom how I didn't see 'demons are evil' coming until it was literally slapped in my face. And you know what? You won't either. By the time they reveal anything about demons, you'll suddenly realize what's happening, and you'll still doubt yourself. And then it happens, and you're like, "oh shit, how did I not see that coming?" I cannot praise the manga enough, and thus far, the anime has been wonderful. on this course, it's going to be a very solid 10/10 show because the manga certainly is. (and it's finished, so you can just go read that to the end!)

The anime is still unfinished though, so I'll wait and see if it doesn't shit the bed in its final acts. It's being done by trigger, so that chance is there.

Anyways, that's my anime wrap up of the season as promised. It's definitely friday when I post this and not later because I have no concept of time anymore. Yep. everything is normal and scheduled and on time.

Until Next Time~
