Pet Peeve Of The Week: Non-Liking Favorites · 9:14pm Sep 17th, 2012

I've been tracking the number of people favoriting Code Lyocolt, and have frankly LOST track at this point.

But it's far higher than the number of people who have voted it up.

At least 60 viewers have favorited Lyocolt, and only 36 have upvoted it.

This is happening to some of my other stories as well.

This is kind of annoying, as it's harder to track a story's performance based on the number of notifications you get that people are favoriting it than it is to track by the likes/dislikes.

It's entirely possible a large number of users are simply unaware of the thumbs-up/thumbs-down buttons next to the title of the story, even though it's right next to the little star you click on to favorite the thing.

So I guess what I'm saying here is this:

If you've favorited any of my stories, but haven't upvoted them, PLEASE take a moment to do so. After all, one would assume if you've flagged it to follow, you like it, so...

It's not just you dude, most of the time the story will have more favs than upvotes. :derpytongue2: Crazy, huh?

365679 Maybe you should make that the focus of a future blog post? "How To Show Appreciation For The Fics You Like"...

365710 What you're asking for is more in the realm of shock therapy than blog posts.

365710 I always upvote things I like first before hitting the fave button, there have only been 3 exceptions to that rule and even then I still hit the Like button immediately afterwards

It makes no sense at all to hit the fave button then not to hit the upvote, I just don't see the logic behind it in the least... well.. I can see a sorta.. convoluted logic behind it... When you hit the upvote, you might not like it later on, but you don't want to hit dislike button 'cause up until that time you liked it and you can't take AWAY your upvote like you are able to with a fave. -shrugs- that has happened to me several times, i hit the like button; get to a later chapter then wish i could take that back 'cause i just don't like the direction of where the story is going but don't want to hit the dislike button 'cause of the fact that other than the way it is heading (usually grimdark or something else i don't like) the story is GREAT so... yea that is what i think some people's convoluted logic... or they could be dumb -shrugs-

Sometimes the voting buttons don't even function for me, so I ignore them. That may happen with others, I don't know for sure though. I'm typically more generous with up-votes than faves anyway; I only fave if I really want to see more. Therefore, you should be happy you've gotten so much love for your fics, even though it is shown in a different manner than you're used to.

365728 I often forget that the admins on this site aren't just robots approving and rejecting fics. It's good to know we have humans on board whom actually read and enjoy some of the things on this site (especially pokemon fans).

If a story looks interesting, I will favorite it. If I have time to read it and it really is interesting, then I upvote it. If it's just sitting around in my favorites box, then I make it a 'read later' but I still have an
upvote there.

Sorry for for bad format, Im on a phone.
