I'm suffering under the nagging suspicion that I re-used a name on that new corporal I introduced in this morning's chapter, so it's time to take character inventory and make sure I have a full listing of the quick and the dead. I've come across a number of errors and problems in the first twenty-some chapters, including a *third* name for Tonnerre, and the fact that Rime started out being called Rame. D'oh!

Forty chapters to go. Well, this is what I get for littering my story with half a hundred named characters.

And done. Well over a hundred named characters, a third of which are dead. More than ten percent of the donkeys recruited in Rime are dead now, by my numbers. I gotta remember to kill off some of the new caribou when it's appropriate. Recruits tend to die in much larger numbers than veterans. But foals get plot immunity until I decide to be a son-of-a-bitch.

BTW, let me know if you want me to kill off your OC.

BTW, let me know if you want me to kill off your OC.

Always ... wait, what?

4256282 It used to be an old fan tradition, in mystery as well as SF, of writers killing off their friends and big name fans in walk-on parts in their stories. Tuckerization, it was called.

Usually, authors put out a call for OC's to be included in the story to be killed off - which is what this is, but I misunderstood the word usage. It somehow sounded to my ear that you were reminding people of the offer which led me to start digging through your blogs. But the matter has been cleared and I am aware of my unfortunate mistake. You may want to included an author's note in the next chapter asking for OC's to add for murder. I know of many people that read the stories only and ignore all the blogging abilities this site has.

Also, always. Though how you'll fit a pony named Bruce into your world I'll never know.

4257030 Sorry, yeah, it was a little offhand. And yeah, I've not been including any Scots analogues in the worldbuilding to fit a Bruce into. The Tectonic caribou and Equuish earth ponies have mostly been living in the memespace that might have held Scots or Scots-Irish ponies. Although I have been looking for a reason to use some material on the Wild Geese, as I think of the Company in that regard.

Ever thought about creating a wiki of your own to keep track? I do a MHTML file, like having a complete website in one document.
