Yo-Kai Watch 2 (Fleshy Souls)

Katie's Diary

Dear Diary,

There's this weird rash of crow attacks in the city! Especially downtown. Crows are stealing people's food and their jewelry all over town!

That's scary and all, but I have plans today with Eddie at Gourd Pond Park. ...I seem to be meeting Eddie there a lot this summer...

Eddie, rich brat that he is, now has two Mega Watches and wanted to show off to me! Grr... Anyway, since the Mega Watch has a GPS tracker that lets you find any other GPS watch, he wanted to play hi-tech hide and seek by lending me his newer watch. That sounded like fun, and I did kinda want to try the Mega Watch on, but while he was handing it to me, a crow flew down and snatched it up!

We followed the crow to the river, where it dropped the watch into the water! Oddly enough, it started floating downstream. Using the Youkai Watch, I discovered that the Mega Watch had landed on Walkappa, who was sleeping on the water. Good grief...

I followed Walkappa downstream to get the watch once he drifted to the bank, but just as he was in reach, this Youkai showed up and stole the watch! The Youkai is Yoink, who inspirits people to borrow something and then never return it. Yoink wanted to borrow the Mega Watch and never give it back, and ran off with it.

(You know, nobody said you could take it in the first place, Yoink. That isn't borrowing...that's stealing.)

To poor Eddie, it looked like his new watch was just flying around, but to me and Whisper, it was obvious what was happening. Using Eddie's GPS, we started chasing Yoink. Once we cornered him, he inspirited a cat to escape! Grrr....!!

I ended up chasing that stupid cat all over town. I finally cornered it in the nasty back alley behind the Uptown Everymart. With nowhere to run, Yoink stopped inspiriting the cat and decided to make a stand against me and my Youkai friends. Bad move; the battle was over before it even started. With no choice but to hand over the watch, Yoink made a "screw you, I'm outta here" exit. And all was well...

Except that Jibanyan decided he wanted to play with the watch. With Whisper telling him no and Jibanyan trying to get it away from him, they managed to drop the watch down into the sewers!

You can't be serious. After all that...? -_-#

Well, it's not like I've never been through the sewers before...

Something's different now, though. Apparently, a bunch of kids have decided to create an underground "empire" in the sewers, with controlled territory and everything. Good grief, are their parents letting them watch those kinds of movies or something...?

Also, for some reason, even though it's nice and cool in the sewers, I just couldn't stop sweating. Neither could Whisper. Don't tell me there's a Youkai causing this...

Using the Youkai Watch, I found a big, ugly, sweaty blob of a Youkai named Swelton. Eugh!!

Swelton found Eddie's watch and was refusing to return it. It came to a fight. Once my Youkai friends defeated Swelton, we cornered him and forced him to return the watch. He was depressed about it because he just wanted to have something nice for once, since being so sweaty and gross and disgusting, he never gets to have anything nice or even have friends. I felt sorry for him and decided to offer to be his friend. He gave me his Youkai Medal and returned the Mega Watch. ...both of which are sticky and gross from his nasty sweat. Puuuuuuuuuke... >.>;;

Anyway, I went back to the park to give Eddie his watch back. He couldn't figure out how all this got so out of control, and I couldn't explain it to him because he can't see Youkai. While Whisper was explaining the obvious to me, he attracted the attention of those pesky crows, and they grabbed HIM!

...you know, I think they can keep him. >.>#

There's one thing that's bugging me about these Mega Watches, though. The design on the faces...

...why does it look so much like the Youkai Watch...?

Dear Diary,

This is terrible! I left my summer break homework at school instead of bringing it home to do it! That's so not like me!

I headed to school to get my homework. In my classroom, I ran into Baku, who was starving and showed up to eat kids' dreams who were sleeping in class. I guess Baku forgot it was summer break. Anyway, Baku ate Whisper's dreams and gave me a Youkai Medal in thanks.

As I was leaving the school, Jibanyan, Whisper, and I saw this giant creepy skeleton hanging around on the school roof. Holy cow! What's that all about?! O_O;;

After dinner, Whisper suggested a visit to Timers & More to upgrade the Youkai Watch. So after a good night's sleep, we headed to Blossom Heights to see the old watchmaker.

When we got there, there was a note on the door saying Mr. Goodsight would be right back. I walked all that way for nothing? Lame! But then a woman passing by said she saw him over at Wayfarer Manor talking to the landlord. But when we got there, it turned out he'd already left and was headed over to Gourd Pond Museum in Breezy Hills.

I realized then that I was gonna spend all day long chasing Mr. Goodsight all over town and missing him by minutes... >.>;;

Fortunately, I actually caught him at the museum. He was on the second floor, browsing the Old Springdale exhibit. Speaking of which, the museum curator asked me to help find a bunch of missing artifacts from the exhibit. It seems that because he's really lousy at his job, he opened the exhibit with nearly half the display pieces missing. What a dope... >.>;; All the missing stuff's gonna take a long time to find...

Anyway, I found Mr. Goodsight at the museum and asked him about the watch. He said he'd upgrade it, but he wanted to spend a little more time at the museum first. I agreed to drop by Timers & More later for the upgrade. With some time to kill, I took care of some errands around town.

Speaking of errands, Mr. Goodsight is at it again, sending me all over town to run his errands for him before he'll upgrade the Watch. >.>;; At least this time I didn't have to go look for his nasty underwear.

While running Mr. Goodsight's errands, I had my first run-in with Oni Time since getting the watch back. Yeah, it still sucks as much as I remember...

Anyway, after Mr. Goodsight upgraded the Watch, I headed back to school to investigate that big bonebag on the roof.

Inside the school, we heard a strange, familiar grinding sound. After exploring the first floor for a bit, we were surprised when a giant gashapon capsule came rolling down the hall at us like something out of an Indiana Jones movie! D8 That weird grinding sound was a giant gashapon machine! Despite how scary and dangerous this is, we needed to find out what was causing it, so we headed upstairs.

On the roof, Whisper was trapped in a gashapon capsule, and that giant bag of bones showed up and attacked us! Despite how huge he was, Gutsy Bones was a giant pushover, and the battle was over practically before it began. With the massive skeleton haunting the school defeated, we went home to rest.

Youkai Medals Lost/Traded:
Ake

Moth's Thoughts:
- The battle backgrounds have upgraded and improved from the first game.
- Battles now have more voice samples in them, including the Watch itself when you have Unities, and all Youkai having voice clips in-battle.
- I like how you have people having conversations as you wander around town and you can see their little talk bubbles in realtime.
- Some of the new minigames are a little pointless and annoying. Especially the eating a meal minigame.
- Oni Time has been changed up a bit. Instead of Oni Chests, you now collect Oni Orbs as you make your way to the exit. The Oni Orbs increase your chance of getting a good prize from the Oni Crank-A-Kai at the end of a successful escape from Oni Time.
- Katie knocking Jibanyan into the 3DS screen with a harisen is hilarious. :rainbowlaugh:

I also noticed that Leadoni and Suspicioni have been replaced by these little floating eyes in Terror Time.

A real shame. I liked him having little Yo-kai minions hunting me down as well in the first game.

I'm still a little angry that Yo-kai Watch 2 isn't releasing here until 2017...

But anyway, Mythril. What Yo-kai do you really want to get in Fleshy Souls? I mean, apart from Toadal Dude and Kyubi which are guaranteed, what other special Yo-kai do you have your eyes on?

4255291 I don't have my eyes on anything special because I went into Yo-Kai Watch 2 completely spoiler-free. :twilightsheepish:

4255294 Alright.

Also, I just wanted to let you know that Cruncha, Frostail, Auntie Heart, Damona, Count Cavity, Eterna, Shadow Venoct, and Goldenyan can be obtained in this game as well.

And just like before, when you have all eight, you can get yourself Gilgaros.
