Just Watched The Last Unicorn · 3:34am Aug 24th, 2016
A very good movie, Schmendrick the Magician is by far on my list of my top favorite animated characters.
Though despite the movie being different then what I thought it was going to be I will admit it has given me some interesting ideas I could use for The Last of My Kind. Personally, if I had seen this movie first before writing LMK I probably would have taken the fic into a different direction.
This is now one of those, "Dammit why didn't I look at this first?!" moments 
When one of my friends exposes me to something I'd rather not have been exposed to, I usually lament in my saddest voice: "I'm not like the other unicorns. I regret."
Probably a good thing in the sense t hat you made your own thing with a similar-ish premise?
It is a childhood favorite of mine. Spent weeks looking for a unicorn afterwords.
4168322 Oh I agree. Now that I re-think it, if I had seen the movie first. There is a chance that the fic wouldn't have gotten as big as it is now.

Im kinda glad you didnt. While i dont remember the name off the top of my head some one has already done a reverse last unicorn. It was pretty good, although it sadly took me half the story to realize what it was. But the unicorn was a human and schmendrick was starswirl. The general idea was the same but more embellished the the original.

That, and 'Flight Of Dragons', I consider two under-appreciated, non-Disney, animated films.
It's okay Immortan. We still love the mess it is.
I love the movie! And the book is awesome too! They're pretty similar expect the movie cut out all the parts in the villages. I love them both. Heh, not many people remember it these days... And her voice though! The Unicorns voice is just so.... unicornish.

I just saw that movie for the first time about a week ago myself! I wish I'd watched it years ago. But it's so very different from The Last of My Kind despite the inverted premises; how would it have affected your story?
Perhaps it's for the best that it didn't -- The Last of My Kind is excellent in its current, more original form!
4169596 It most likely would have changed it in the way of how Chloe would have reacted to her situation and many of the characters I have now would have possibly resembled some of the Last Unicorn characters and their interactions.
Would it have been for better or worse? I do not know.
