Breezie Speak=Easy · 9:00pm Jul 22nd, 2016
So, I haven't updated in a while, but I swear, I have been getting SOME things done.
Like, for example, working on the Breezie Language that I touched on in Falling Feathers a while back.
The most difficult part was trying to figure out how to do the verb conjugations, but when I remembered the whole point was simplicity, I figured out what I want to do with it.
I found myself speaking it as I took a walk for practice, (while playing Pokemon Go) and some onlookers kind of looked at me, heard me speaking a strange language and looking at shit on my phone, and then dismissed it without question.
As far as they know, I'm learning a completely legitimate language online.
Also, people think French and Spanish sound smooth?
Tes'ave nada o me
Tes ah vey nah-da oh may.
They've got nothing on me.
Tes'= they T'=you
ave=have
nada=nothing
oh=on
me=me.
One key point is that all verb base conjugations will end in a vowel to allow them to flow better with the pronoun attachments.
Present tense 'have' is the base, standard conjugation.
Future tense is an 'N' after the verb.
in place of a series of complex conjugations, the language instead uses context.
Again, going to the example from the episode.
M'excusen.
Me, excuse. It's a command because it ends with n after the base form. More appropriately, the command would, via direct translation, exist more as 'You will excuse me'.
Instead of having a different conjugation for a command, you instead declare it as future fact. Instead of 'Go to school' You'd say 'You will go to school.' Future fact, when referring to another person, becomes a command.
T' iri (go) N(future/command) al (to) cole (school)
T'irin al cole.
You will go to school.
>Go to school.
M'excusen?
In this case, it's the exact same conjugation, but with a question mark. Referring to the self, Will I be excused?
T'irin al cole? "Will you go to school?"
While in english and other languages, you need to change the sentence structure to indicate a question, adding other words like 'will', and in French, changing the verb conjugation, in Breezie, you simply add a question mark.
You go to school.=Command.
You go to school?=Question.
In terms of past tense, instead of N for future, D for past
M'irid al cole.
M= me
iri=go
D=past tense
al cole =to school.
So, me went to school.
In the extremely rare case of amnesia, or, Steve Urkel-ism (aka 'Did I do that?)
M'irid al cole? No me'memento...
Me go to school? No remember. If a verb begins with a consonant, instead of a vowel, instead of m' t', s' mes' tes' ses'. you just add an E to make it flow better.
me'memento
te'memento
se'memento
Mese'memnto
Tese'memento
Sese'memento
Pepridge Farm, Sese'mementod.
Me'memento.... la Alamo *Texans go wild with celebration*
In any case, since I'm basically inventing an entirely new language, the easy part is done now! Now... I have to come up with a translation for every noun, verb, and adjective.....
So.... have you seen the size of the latest Webster? No? I'll go grab a copy, let me just get my wheelbarrow.....
Yeah, so, don't expect THAT anytime soon.
That fact you put so much effort into this park make me wonder just how large a part the breezes will play in future chapters.
4107305 Not too much. I just like language, logic, and efficiency. That and speaking in it makes you sound hot.
Me'finid a traja en m'irid a ma mason. Me'marched's ma canin en manged's Doritos.
Color me impressed. Just not with fusha. *Shudders* such a horrid creation.....
Dude, you're still here. I was starting to think you skipped town. Good to know you are still writing.
A new language? meh why not, i would learn it ... well after japanese tho. so much anime to watch
Alright, so I've been absent from Fimfiction for quite some time. After I came back, as I was browsing around, I hit upon your old stories. I remembered, "heh, I used to love this stuff. Completely silly, filled with OP OCs, and cliche-ridden, but I went along for the ride and a heck of a ride it was. I wonder what happened to the guy?"
Turns out, you're inventing whole languages for your stores a la Tolkien.
Dang, dude. You've come quite a ways. Props to you.
4109866 Thanks man. The language feels like it's trying to come alive to me. Every time I think about it, i just think 'what would be the simplest, easiest, clearest thing' and it just comes out. If I ever meet anyone who speaks Breezie, I may have to go to the hospital.
