4047931 No. He'd just jump into something else temporarily. Spike is the only one capable of dealing the finishing blow. Devil-Dragon-Wizard is a really potent mixture. Think Ganon's monster forms from Ocarina and Twilight mixed together bad. Spike is basically the master sword.

4048552 He can't be killed until he has physical form. Dramaal knew that he couldn't pull it off, so he took him out of commission for as long as possible. But thanks to the curse, there was a lot of unexpected fallout and his descendants had to fight to survive. There was little time to search for Dootha while fighting off his forces and trying to retain global stability.
