As a few of you might know, and fewer probably care, I recently tried a romance story featuring Maud Pie and several other secondaries. In my opinion the story failed because I suck at advertising, but the damage was done so I decided to reboot. This in mind, I was most delighted to learn that Maud the reserved had been featured in the comics alongside Rarity the dramatic.
For a proper review, I'd recommend Sketchy
For my purposes, I found this very endearing. Maud's character isn't that dissimilar from how I planned to write her, being very stone faced but deeply emotional. Naturally, being a fan fiction, I'll have no problems making changes here and there to suit my needs, but I think I can do so while keeping mostly to the established character. I also liked the idea of Maud having a rival in Berried Treasure. Could be fun to play with.
In further updates, I've also been working on a story that's heavy on the fetish side and starring Twilight as the protagonist. This, I fear, will not be all that well received because of the fetishes involved, but that's how it goes sometimes. A writer's gotta write, what they can and when they can.
To a lesser extent, I've also been trying to add a second chapter to Button's Mares, in which Rarity shows up, so stay tuned for that... eventually.
Lastly, don't freak out, but I really haven't been doing that much for Horse People as of late. I still have plenty of chapters on the back log, so we're still good for several weeks, but my attention has been divided of late, mostly because I have a book I'm trying to focus on writing and yet I keep being distracted with these other projects. Just try and be patient with me, okay folks?
P.S. Lastly for real, I'm especially anxious about the fetish story because I plan on becoming a proper author and am worried about public reaction when the book, whenever it comes out, gets traced back to me on my other accounts, connected me to the things that make most people glad for the anonymous nature of the net. Thoughts?
50 Shades of Grey started out as a fanfic. I think your safe
4019856 Pretty sure BDSM is a lot more socially acceptable than any form of clop, especially foalcon.

Except you're ignoring that 50 Shades has almost no literary value (much like Twilight). It's basically a wankfic based in the real world. Even trashy romance novels have more literary value. You'll be fine.
Thing is, when it comes to professional writing (at least in my limited experience), no one cares about an author's fanfic career. Sure, it may be where s/he cut her/his eye-teeth, but that's a completely different ballgame. Just don't connect the two, and you'll be fine. The only real answer you need to give is that you wrote some fanfics when you first started. No one needs to know anything beyond that.
4019904 Thanks. That's reassuring.
Wasn't Rarity already shown in this chapter of the prequel?
4020745 True, but as a fan based sequel, I'm free to make changes.
