Who thinks their phones are listening to them? · 9:56am March 4th
I can't be the only one to notice this. So, a few weeks ago, I was talking with my dad about looking for a job in a particular field while my phone is nearby, and ads for that job start appearing on my phone for the next few weeks. Little things like this happen way too often to be a coincidence.
Likewise, my laptop is old, but I'm holding off on upgrading to get as much use out of this one as possible. Also, it irks me that Microsoft Word is now a subscription and not a simple purchase. I said all of this to my dad last night, and this morning, turning on my laptop had some funky results. I had to reboot it twice, and Microsoft Word acted like it was freshly downloaded. All my files were thankfully safe, but my presets were gone, and the new formats were a little offputting. Again, my phone was nearby during this conversation.
Am I paranoid, or have other people also noticed this?
If you’re using an iPhone technically your phone is always listening to you. If you have the talk to Siri mode on it’s how it’s able to respond to you when you say it’s name. Apple already said that they don’t look at it recordings but nobody really trust them. If I remember correctly, they admit to it about four years ago. during the trial, it was revealed that iPhones records you waiting for you to say the name. Hey Siri and uses anything you say around it to sometimes uses information to give you personal ads.
If I can find the news article, I’ll send you the link. You can probably Google it.
Ask for the rest of it I think they’re all doing it now anything that has a talk to text function Alexa, Siri all technically are listening to you waiting for you to say their names and then give you personal ads by the things you talk about around them. They all started doing it a few years after they added the function.
Theyre always listening. Ive used this for years by chatting to freinds and family both voice and on non secured text forums and watching sggestions turn up in a totally non affiliated programs for distribution aquisition and fan games a variable time later.
Its because companies didnt want to expand on the early 90s research on getting your, Personal Computer to understand what youre saying, but just package the audio off to a central server farm for analysis and reply. Then again, in the early 90s, decent home computers could barely selerate and extraxt 10 or so different dedicated comand words, and these days even teh Switch is 60 thousand times more powerful and has deddicated hardware processing for many required functions. The iPhone almost 100 times more powerful still.
Theoretically, if it wasnt crippled by the constant online stream delay, OS limitations and othe technicalities, a modern iPhone, in itself, isolated, should have enough processing power to real time listen to, understand to useable degree and translate between any two languages available o the planet. Basically C3P0.
Except without the Style.
Of course, if certain alpha Pi research was used by Apple etc, then the phone would be magnitudes more capable.
The first speech recognition system for voice control, automated telephone response systems were built in the 1970s? so computers have been listening to you for at least 50 years.
Its whats done with the information thats the problem.
They dont pay You.
About adverts. If YouTube charged subscribers One dollar a year per channel, Mr Beast would be making over a billion dollars a year, with no adverts in sight, as compared to the mere quarter billion dolalrs a year from adverts as currently claimed.
this is old new's if it has google or any thing that is part of or controlled by google you are being spied on.

And that is nothing to say about genuinely evil malware like the Project Pegasus which is wrecking havoc in third world countries, not to go into details.
