Well then...[Season Five revelations & Echoing Silence thoughts] · 7:05am Jun 4th, 2016

So, anyone who has NOT seen the season five finale, I advise you to leave right now. Likewise, if you are not caught up to date on Echoing Silence, then I advise you to also go read it first so that you can understand bits of what I'm trying to say below without spoiling the story so far.

Ahem, now that the warning has been made, I can talk freely.

So, my fiance and I have just caught up into season 6 and I really wanted to talk about how the Season 5 finale had actually fallen almost exactly into my story Echoing Silence.

The part of the finale when Twilight was seeing the different futures/realities that Starlight Glimmer caused by changing the past really made me think about how I've mentioned the war in Echoing Silence. Mind you, I just saw that finale, so I'm still flabbergasted by the fact that they showed a war between Equestria and the Crystal Kingdom under Sombra's rule.

Like...I was really stunned.

Most of you know that I've been trying to hint and show the war that Equestria is trying to handle with Sombra. Bits of the finale were almost exactly how I pictured the war in Equestria happening. For instance, I knew that Sombra would have to have some kind of control over the Crystal Ponies in order to have the do their bidding according to cannon. I never thought about the mind control helmets, for one, and in my story, I doubt that they will really be controlled in such a way, if at all.

The other thing that really struck me about the finale was the fact that Celestia was on the front line, leading her ponies. Knowing Celestia as a ruler, and how deeply she cares for her ponies, it did not strike me odd at all that the Sun Monarch would actually be on the front lines. This is something I basically predicted and I'm actually really proud of myself. Of course, she would have Cadence and Shining Armor with her, but the picture above really set me in my idea that this war is not all that farfetched at all. It was an amazing feeling!

What do you guys think? How did you feel about the finale? What are your thoughts on the connections between Echoing Silence and the season five finale "The Cutie Re-Mark"?

I never really placed it more on the show itself, but sorta viewed the sombra you presented more as the IDW Comics did him. The finale of tales was a very unique point I hadn't considered for this.

This was all in thought and being written well before Season five, so I'm just really shocked.

And, as bad as it may sound, I have only read a few parts of the comics I think you're describing. I never actually read them in full or really know what they're about. :twilightblush:

My Sombra isn't going to be just like canon, that's for sure! :rainbowdetermined2:

3997467 Given the gak crud that appeared around his time then show wise, thank heck. But the comics have a few ways to approach him anyhow. But the whole interaction with twilight/sombra is unique for every writer. And what I often enjoy seeing how they approach this conundrum of what makes each.

I'm surprised they didnt give her war armor

Every leader needs war/battle armor!

I definitely agree! Hopefully, I can make mine enjoyable, believable and awesome! :rainbowdetermined2:

I actually thought you knew this already. Talk about crazy coincidences! :pinkiecrazy:
Your Sombra seems a little more, I don't know, stable than the canon one, so that opens up lots of options for the war itself, so don't limit yourself by using the mind control helmets, go with whatever you were planing before, considering the story so far, it will be good. :pinkiehappy:

I never knew!

We binged on MLP for a few days and caught up. When we watched the episode I was having a squee attack because of how well my theory had actually fit. It made me really proud.

Like I said before, I don't think mind control helmets are actually what I wanted to use, really never crossed my mind. My King Sombra will differ and I'm okay with that!

Maybe they aren't directly mind control helmets? Brute force mind control is sloppy and blunt, likely suitable to menial simple tasks like moving boxes. For soldiers a level of independent thought and rational would be needed, so I'd imagine they are more like inhibitor helmets to suppress parts of the cortex responsible for empathy and guilt instead with maybe the only actual mind control part being a loyalty to sombra.
