IN WHICH I VENT ABOUT I.R.L. STUFF
So my girlfriend's laptop computer (bought just under a year ago) had a cooling fan that was starting to fail. So we took it into the store. It was under warranty two or three different ways, so this fix should come at no cost to us. The catch was that it had to be sent to the manufacturer (or some licensed repair place). Fine; a week or two of annoyance is a fair tradeoff for free repair. According to the email updates I've been receiving, the work was completed last Thursday, and they boxed it up and shipped it back Friday afternoon. Great. Now here's where the story turns to bullshit – UPS says it was "delivered" Tuesday morning (inputting the tracking # directly into UPS's own site), but we got no confirmation of this from the store; when we went to inquire on Tuesday afternoon, they said they didn't have it. Okay, I figured, maybe it's with a bunch of deliverables in the back and they just haven't sifted through stuff yet. I'll give it a day. It has now been a day and still no email or phone call. Tomorrow morning I'm going over there and I'ma scream at someone. Not sure who.
Fortunately, anger is a good motivator for writing. I got Aria Blaze Steals A Burrito past the 1000-word minimum, meaning I can submit it to the site. However, I think I'll sit on it for a day or so and see if I might want to add any rambling internal monologue. I'm very pleased with the ending. Donald Trump (not named in the narrative) dies of an aneurysm after Aria drinks his proverbial milkshake. This may technically be my angriest story yet, even angrier than "Yip! Yip! Yip! Yip!". But really that's fitting considering it's about Aria Blaze.
Yeah, the whole ship-it-off-to-Skyrim-and-back approach can be infuriating. I once had to do that with a desktop, and when it came back, the giant metal heat sink had detached from the CPU and was bouncing freely around the inside. Y'know, like, all over where the sensitive electronics and stuff were.
Fortunately that whole situation worked out in the end. I hope yours does as well.
