What makes you smile? · 11:54pm May 22nd, 2016
So I'm feeling a bit . . . apathetic right now. Dunno if I'm sick or just . . . MEH.
In any case, I could use some cheering up. I love to hear people talk about what they enjoy. Thought it'd be fun to hear what activities, fandoms, hobbies, or general stuff that you do to feel even a little bit happier. Other than mlp of course. 'Cause I'm assuming if you're on here, you like it at least a little bit.
I hope this thread will help cheer YOU up too. I know a lot of you are suffering from the end-of-term doldrums right now. Maybe it'll give you some fun ideas at the very least!
Here are some things that make me smile.
I LOVE watching Miraculous Ladybug in French. It's one of my favorite shows despite being geared towards kids. Adrien and Marionette are too cute!
Riding my pony. If only she would listen more . . . Here's a pic I took on one of our rides. She's so short, her head didn't get in the way at all. XD
Hiking! It's sooo much fun. Even if it's just around the neighborhood, it's still counts. XP
Drawing. I'm not the best, but I guess you get better with practice. At least it makes making characters easier. I even made a FlimJack foal for you peeps.
Writing and Editing! I love 'em both 'cause it's almost the same thing. XD
What makes you smile?
funny stuff...like puns, jokes, high brow / British humor.
an example.
What is it called when Batman leaves church early?
Christian Bale
What makes me smile.
I enjoy a good read. I both hate and love when they end, but the memories make me smile.
I enjoy video games with friends. I enjoy the teamwork and passion we play with, and the feel of a job well done. Watching 'Victory' appear makes me smile.
Giving. I often bring biscuits or snacks into work, or buy my friends gifts. Causing a smile makes me smile.
3963967 EEEEEH! That Batman joke make me smile. Too funny! Love those kind of jokes.
3963974 Giving makes me smile too! I love to see people's faces when you surprise them with something nice.
Let's see...
Going to church. It's such a nice respite from the insanity of the rest of the world.
My family, whether it'd be dinner, camping, watching a movie, playing a game, or bouncing our favorite in-jokes between each other.
Drawing makes me happy, and so does writing. I especially love creating characters. I also like it when my stuff gets feedback (then again, what artist/writer doesn't?). And watching some of my favorite cartoons (MLP, Avatar, Ladybug, and a few others). Also, when I come across a good picture or fic of my favorite pony or some fan art of some of my work, I'm over the moon.
Also, put a baby in my immediate vicinity and I'll be cooing at the little one for a good long time.
What makes me smile?
Listening to the sound of the rain.
Read a good book or fanfiction.
Listen to my favorite video game music.
And as of recently, practicing drawing.
I'm not a very social person so I do those things alone most of the time
What makes me smile is when i am sharing ideas with other people to solved problems whether it be art, literature, practical, or just sharing ideas that we all feel very intousiastic about and no one feel left out and that we make a good idea into a better one.
I also have a smile when I am galloping at full speed on a horse. The intense thrills of keeping control of the animal and feeing its own love of speed is exhilarating. By the way my dad go himself his own horse now he is a lot of fun. His name I Flash he is a theerthin year old gelding that apparently love to go into long treks.

Things that make me smile
Cats and kittens,
Drawing my OCs doing something hilarious,
Eating Donuts,
Giving gifts to friends and strangers,
Helping others through hard times and giving counsel,
Giving donuts to friends, family, and strangers (it's better than just giving gifts),
Spending time with the fam,
Spending time with my friends and framily,
Talking to my online friends (they're like framily too. I don't consider them separate fromrl friends. They're the same to me.
There are probably a lot more things, but it always make me happy to be able to comfort someone when they're down.

For me, it's Bob & Tom that makes me laugh.
Here's one of their best jokes:
One of our college instructors showed us this one.
EDIT: Also, people complimenting my musical abilities, especially when I'm just chill in' with it.
Drawing when I feel inspired and I guess reading a fanfic or book at night just to relax. It always makes me happy and feel calm in a way. I apparently read more then draw to think of it.
Also maybe solving some type of puzzle or problem just for fun.
Cartoons makes me really giddy too. Any kind of animation in fact. They all are wonderful and show what the creator can do. Oh and music, I like to listen different kinds of genres.
well bluegrass you live in a far nicer place than i do, can we swap places?
what i mostly enjoy mostly is reading here on fimfic and criticizing people's art on deviantart.
Late to the party but I'll comment nonetheless.
Reading, this is a definite. It always makes me happy. I can't put a good book down. I have stayed up through the night going just "one more page" or "one more chapter" on more than one occasion. I even remember my first novel: Skulduggery Pleasant. A gift from my aunt when I was eleven. Now I devour entire series over the course of a week or two.
Films are also another one. I enjoy films but I prefer a good book to a good film. A film is more convenient but there's just so much more detail in a book that I enjoy.
Giving gifts also makes me happy. I love to pick something out for someone and then waiting for there reaction when they get it. Mainly I get films for people I know. Things I think they'll enjoy. My mother loves romance and musicals, my brother prefers war films, my sister is all over the place. My dad prefers suspense rather than action films. Planning out heists or escapes. I know he enjoys the Great Escape. I think it's more for the fact what can be engineered with very little and some clever hands. He's also interested in documentaries on how things are built. From roof beams to ship riveting.
Staring out the window of a car/train/van/bus also makes me feel very calm. I just watch the scenery go by and let my mind wander.
Some of my favorite things include hiking in mountains, playing games (preferably board/tabletop), sitting alone and thinking in a quiet place with a cup of coffee, and having long conversations with my wife.
I am boredom incarnate.
What makes me smile is my crew of crazy canines.
I have 4 dogs:
-Maggie May is a 6 year old chocolate Labrador retriever. She is scary smart, loving, protective, goofy and is very good at taking up the entirety of my queen-sized bed. She has even pushed me off several times. I'm lucky if I get 2 feet of sleeping space.
-Angus is a 4.5 year old Labrador,Dachshund,Siberian Husky and/or Alaskan Malamute mix. Weird combo, right? He's 80 pounds of loving, protective, boneheaded stubbornness and I wouldn't have it any other way. He is my heart and has saved me numerous times. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for my Goose Boy.
-Tippy Bug is a 3 year old Pit Bull (or American Staffordshire terrier)/Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix. She is the sweetest creature in the world and that's a fact. She loves to be loved. And if you don't give her loves, she will climb onto your lap or barrel into your legs so she can get to your face and stare you down until you give her loves.
-Clancy Flynn is a 3.5 year old Standard Poodle. He is the clown of the crew. He is always bouncing, prancing, barking, or chasing his tail. He's a big lap puppy and I swear he is a human trapped within a dog's body. He will sit on my Dad's lap for hours and even sleeps on the bed. On his back. Head on a pillow. Under the blankets. Yep. He's human.
This is a picture of my crew. From left to right: Flynn, Angus, Maggie, Tippy and Sugar, my first dog. My grandmother gave her to me as a 8 week old puppy when I was 3 years old. Sugar passed away September 10, 2015 at 15 years old.

What makes me smile? Well...
Hearing your editor tell you that you're doing a great job. Like when your editor tells you the following:
That's what makes me smile, hearing him say such kind and honest things to me.
Let's just say...I took hints from J.D. Salinger's finest work, 'The Catcher In the Rye.'
