The Love and Hatred of Sander's and Trump · 1:18pm Mar 10th, 2016

I get why people are attracted to both Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, in many ways they are a lot alike. Both are not afraid to speak what they feel needs to be said. Both have defied the odds and come out with great support from various walks of life, but with a center core (for Sanders it’s Millennials and Trump it’s grassroots workers). Both are anti-establishment and have shaken up the political game. Both are honest in their policies and passionate about them such as Sander’s and his efforts to fix the economy, health care, and education and Trump with his efforts to deal with immigration, job market, and foreign affairs.

Of course, they both have their share of haters as well.

Sanders is seen to those that opposite him as a socialist hippie who thinks this is the 1960’s still and wants to create the perfect free unrealistic utopia where everybody is equal and works together singing campfire songs. People fear he’s going to raise taxes to the point where people will be unable to afford them, and he’ll drive us to the ground with the economy getting worse. Some are even afraid of the government having more power then it should and our society adapting to the European style which is failing in its own right. Plus, they fear he cannot lead the fight against terrorism and that multiple 9/11’s are going to happen under his rule.

For Trump haters, they see him as a racist, homophobic, prejudice, egomaniac who thinks he can run America like a business and think he will fail which will make things worse. They think he’ll cause WWIII and blow us all up to kingdom come and that all minorities, except for whites, are going to be worse off then ever to the point where all he’ll do is deport them and make this a white only nation. The companies will control the United States, rich will leech on faster to us, the entire world will hate us or be bombed by us as we all raise our right hands and say “Heil Trump”, like he is Hitler or something. All while lying his teeth off and saying everything is fine while the world burns around him.

To be honest? I don’t think either of those things will happen with either of them in charge. Sure, not everything will be great. Not everything will be bad. It will be better for some, worse for others, and the only thing that can tell us is time. Maybe Sanders and Trump as president would be bad for the country or maybe it would be good. Who knows? Is Trump a racist wielding KKK supporting asshole? Maybe he is and maybe he isn’t. Is Sander’s a communist loving godless terrorist sympathizer? Maybe he is and maybe he isn’t. To me, the media and the internet has just let things go to the point where you honestly can’t tell sometimes what is true or not and both supporters haven’t exactly been nice about their opinions either. Say your not voting for Sanders/Trump on a thread and suddenly they see you as the devil incarnate.

Some people have compared the Sander’s supporters like a cult. Some people have compared Trump supporters to the S.S. Nazi’s. To be honest, they are just both similar in aspects, but different in policy. It would be interesting to see what they would do with the power in their hands, but it will be even more interesting to see what comes from after this election regardless of their standings. Both have shaken things up to the point where both the Republican and Democratic Parties are going to go through changes. What those changes, are who knows.

They're both socialist. Sanders is more international-socialist and Trump more national-socialist. Socialism aways produces bad consequences when effected, so they are both bad. And, unlike Hilary Clinton, they won't be neutrailzed by prosecutions from Day One of their Administration, so they might actually accomplish some of their policies. So they're bad.

Why are you polluting a fanfiction site with political commentary?

I kind of like Bernie since he plans to make colleges more accesible for low income families, and make medical marijauna more attainable for people with cancer and fibromilagia and whatnot.

There is an old joke that goes "Why vote for the lesser evil? Vote Cuthulu 20xx". This cycle it would in many cases would be the devil we would know over almost the entire field.

I'm pushing to get Sanders on the democratic nomination for one simple reason. Basic human kindness. Clinton has not shown it, waffling between issues, outright lying about her past, and using political power to have herself overly positively publicized in the media. Trump, well I really don't have to say much, just watch one of his videos and you will see an angry, spiteful, hate-filled man with a flippant attitude and no sense in how to be a diplomat. Sanders so far has done the exact opposite of what I've seen politicians do these many years. He doesn't run attack adds, he lets his past speak for his character rather than cherry pick, he's let protesters have a voice and listened to their concerns, he's backed up all his proposals with hard economist data of how his proposed plans will be paid for (Rather than 'a vague, I will make us great again'), and in general has just been a much nicer man. And honestly with all the media censorship going around Sanders, its pretty obvious our corporate overlords DON'T want him anywhere near the presidency. Obama offered 'change' but he too was backed by super-PACs, corporate interests, and large money groups, just like any Republican. Sanders offers us a candidate with the exact opposite, a president for the people, BY the people.

I'm nt from USA but honestly speaking? I prefer Trump to be in power than Bernie(if both f them were at the finals), yeah I know that he is basing some ideas in discrimination specialy against my people (Latin americ) Bernie is TOO liberalist by accepting everything to happen or be legal get him a lot of support from that people and hate and disaproval from people who wants things to remain like they should. But seeing how people are insulting or doing shit to trump is really patethic.

But at the end I prefer Hilary clinton is like another obama regime

Even thinking about this election makes my sanity go curl up and cry in a corner. :applecry:

Thank you for an honest critique of both "popular" candidates. This seems to be the year of the outsider gaining enough clout to be a serious contender against the more moderate "safe" candidates. More likely than not the two you mentioned will grab headlines and word of mouth but ultimately the RNC/DNC will pick the more politically safe candidates (Cruz/Rubio and Hillary) and the world will keep turning.

Okay everyone, can we all at least agree that Trump is a general asshole? NOT a KKK asshole (despite me thinking so) but just a general asshole you run into during the day.

I support neither of these candidates, but I when I read,

Both are honest in their policies...

It reminded me of this, I saw a bit ago, and if it's true, then Trump isn't very honest at all.
Though that's not to say Bernie is without some lies or half truths either.

I honestly don't know who I would vote for this election, I really don't like any of them. I don't have any particular party loyalty, and it's pretty clear that America can run itself without a President having their hands in every major role, but it feels like nothing but a figurehead position anymore. Also the run for presidency just feels too like entertainment these days and less about fulfilling anything of their selling points for the election. Ah well, I'll continue to vote and hope for the best.

3801559 He's an ass, alright.:facehoof: He's all like, "I know him; he's a very good friend of mine."

To be honest, I'd feel a whole lot better if neither of them made it to office so we could just have a race where the lying witch Hilary gets crushed by someone who's not Trump. And then we can just be done with this until the next election.
