The fic I was going to write originally instead of Forbidden Melodies is here!

Had a rough week last week, and decided to channel all the negativity and depression into my birthday present to you guys. Thanks to ShutterflyYay for his dedication to proofreading the fool out of this one over the past few days and I hope you guys who weren't exactly thrilled with the comedic sequel will enjoy this more serious work. I enjoyed getting it out of my head to deal with the bad stuff. The depression wasn't big, just FYI. Depression isn't a normal thing for me, but we all get it sometimes. Just glad I could use it to make something to get my mind off of it.

A side note, I took the opportunity to update some of the less engaging parts Forbidden Melodies and cleaned up a few things while doing so. I also decided to switch the word I've been using for the bat pony species from "Moori" to "Nocturne" in all of my fictions that feature them. I still like Wade's term better, but even if the word is better, Nocturne is more familiar to readers. The reason why Unicorn and Pegasus work for us is that we've associated the name with that creature whereas moori has no familiar background to rely on. If enough people raise hell about it, I'll switch it back to moori, but I think Nocturne is more approachable since there are so many more readily known names for bat ponies. It'd be different if this was a completely original work, but fanfics play by a different set of rules, and using Moori and not confusing new readers was an uphill battle I saw little point in starting. Still not gonna use Thestral though. Skeletal reptilian-looking zombie ponies =/= bat ponies.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a farm to maintain in Stardew Valley.
