February Update · 8:50pm Feb 16th, 2016
I haven't really been doing much.
Here's the truth: I'm writing an original, serial story. My heart isn't in fanfic as much as it used to be. It's been great practice, and I like to think I improved a little bit, but I ultimately am at a loss for ideas as far as MLP goes. I have several stories in varying stages of completion that will most likely appear around the 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas, but even those aren't guarantees.
I don't know what to do. None of my stories are very good, but I don't want to take them down. And yet here I am, losing followers every day. Should I just throw in the towel completely, or should I make some attempt to stick around the writing scene a little longer? It's not that I don't like writing about ponies: I do. I'm really grateful to y'all for how patient you've been over the time you clicked on that Follow button, and I feel awful that I have nothing to show for it.

Who said you needed to leave if you don't write? Or are losing follows?

I agree with Dubs (dont tell him I said this. he would get upset)
Who knows, maybe you will find a contest you like, or season 6 will give you an idea or three.
You said you were writing Original Fiction -- great. Make a blog post with where you are posting it -- a significant number of people will follow your work whether it is ponies or not ponies.
You have no requirement to write pony to stick around. Write what you feel like writing.
I can almost guarantee the odds are higher that you will write something good and pony if you don't push yourself into writing pony just to write pony. The idea and motivation will come or it won't. Forcing it will only make you dislike writing in general, and pony in specific.
I wouldn't stress about it too much. Silv's right in that you're not obligated by your presence here or by your followers to actually produce content.
Hell, I wouldn't even call it throwing in the towel. Inspiration isn't something you decide to turn on or off. Maybe you'll go the rest of your life without writing another ponyword, or maybe you'll come up with the greatest ponyfic idea ever and write loads of it. In the meantime, don't worry about trying to force it. Even if you decide to stop actively searching for ponyspiration, never say never.
Whichever way it goes. Write or don't write. Don't worry too much about it. S'no big deal really.
We don't like you just because you write pony.
We like you because you're damn sexy.
As far as writing goes, just write. Ideas will come to you, just be sure to write them down. Then, when you get an idea you like... live in it. Dwell on it. Immerse yourself in that world. Then, write what you're living. </pretentious writing advice>
Even if you can't stick around, don't take your stories away! D:
