Spike's been here before. He's sure of it. Except... he hasn't. The northern border of Yakyakistan is so far from Ponyville it might as well be another world entirely. So why does it feel like he's already home?

Ey up! A little while ago I wrote a pony-related thing! I thought it was a fluke but guess what?

    Dormancy

Ey up. Quickly checking in as I've continued to be quiet lately (well, for several months, okay). Should have written this post ages ago.

    Astra lives?

    February Retrospective

So I've been quiet lately. I know I'm not particularly social, or reliable, but since I have no new stories coming up I thought I'd give a quick rundown of what made me so quiet for the last month. (Not a picture post, I'm afraid!)

Ever wondered where Spike's egg came from?

If not, I'm sorry I distracted you from whatever fimfic faffery you're up to. But if you have, I wrote a story about that. It features Spike and Twilight and adventure.

The story is complete, approx 18000 words, and has four parts, which I'll publish over the next three days.

I'm nervous too, Twilight.

Obviously I made a picture post of Spike and Twilight to celebrate. Delve below the break to see them being adorable.

EDIT: Story got featured briefly a couple of times. I'll remember this day fondly. Thanks to all who read the story.

I’m chuffed to have finished this story. And I'm giving Ceffyl Dwr a moustache for prereading the thing and giving the story a signal boost and being an all-round top bloke. Go read his stories! :moustache:

Now back to your (ir)regularly scheduled picture programming:

The relationship between these two is the most important part of the show to me. I looked at your story, The Old Country, and I look forward to seeing what, if anything, Spike finds out about himself or his kind in those wind-swept ranges.

Thanks for sharing both the story and the gallery !

3685144 I always put pictures in my blog posts. MLP characters are just so cute. :rainbowkiss:

3684627 I can confirm he'll find out something! He has to get there first, though. Pesky yaks.

Out of curiosity, did you find the story through my blog, on the front page, or because of a group? I never expected it to get so much attention just from the first chapter, especially not from *ahem* someone as cool as The Descendant.

I saw it uploaded to one of the Spike groups—I believe that it was Spike and Twilight—but I would have found it eventually, as I check for "Spike" and "Recently Approved" stories at least once every few days. I'm glad that I was able to find it early enough that I was able to post it to some more groups as well.

3686197 Ah I wondered where all those extra groups came from! I only added it to two myself. That's quite helpful knowledge in terms of clarifying how people find stories. Thanks for the signal boost, I expect your additions found me some more readers. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

It's actually very deja vu for me, as I was just discussing with Stainless Key, who you can see is also here, something about my unfinished story Zenith. Then I read the newest chapter of The Old Country, and when Twilight and Spike disappear into the darkness together it brought chills to my spine, as Zenith begins in a similar fashion.

Hmmm, maybe I can give you even a bit more of a signal boost here in a few minutes or so...

3686241 Oh wow, I didn't know that! I've scrolled past Zenith several times (love the cover art in particular), and it's been on my read-later list for a while. I haven't read it yet, partly because I didn't want someone else's vision of a Spike adventure to rub off on me before I'd finished my own, heh. Also, as you say, it's unfinished, and fairly long. I've just started reading The Dusk Guard by Viking ZX, so it'll be a while before I can take on another long fic, but I'll move Zenith up my list.

It's very unfinished, so take your time.:raritydespair:
