I mean...
Why ask for money/donations for writing stories when everyone else does it for free? I mean, no offense meant at all I swear, but I don't think a lot of people on this site are what you could consider to be...'professional writers'. They can write amazing stories, sure, but is it really worth paying money for? In my mind, I'm in the belief that whatever stories are bringing in donations for these fanfic Patreons must come with traces of crack cocaine and viagra pills.
For example, look at this guy's Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/Flinx?ty=h. This person is charging $10 to motivate him/herself to write 2,000 words a story instead of around the 1,000 mark? You can hire a prostitute in Hamsterdam for $10!
Well, so my older bro says, but I think he's lying just to wind his girlfriend up or something. But if he's telling the truth at least I'll have an alternate option available if I can't get a girlfriend and take her on a date this year.
Back on topic though, don't get me wrong, folks. I'm not bad mouthing these people. Good for them if they make money from doing this, but I do find it a bit odd.
But then, as you should all already know by now, UniqueSKD can often be a bit of a brainless dipstick. So maybe UniqueSKD just needs someone to explain to him how and why this works. It might help increase his Intelligence stats by a few points.

I wonder if I could put my posters/drawings on Patreon somehow...at the very least I might annoy someone. That would cheer me up on a rainy day. I'll look into this Patreon site a little more.
It's so they can show off what pretentious assholes they are and dupe their followers into giving them loads of money for crappy writing.
No one on this site that I've seen has writing skill high enough to warrant actually paying to read their shit, myself included (though not for lack of trying)
I wouldn't care for Patreon. If It wasn't for the fact that I see every other writer do it. Nowadays it just makes me cringe. I'm never going to give any amount of money to any Patreon of that sort, let alone fork over $10 or more.
3680772 Well, asshole MIGHT be a bit harsh. The person I used as an example seems legit a good writer. I just don't understand why donations are needed to help his/her writing. Unless the dollar notes are blended and injected into the veins as a sort of novel idea enhancing serum?

I think it's mostly because a lot of writers who do ask for money are either unable to find a job or can't get one for various reasons. Plus I know many of them are minors, and trying to get a little extra cash. Some people get a little greedy but if people like their art they will pay money for it. Asking for money for stuff you make isn't (obviously) uncommon, it's like a nice reward for doing shit that's mostly tiring. I want to start a Pateron, mostly because I'm broke, poor, and in need of some serious things for serious reasons, but I know my art/writing isn't good enough, but if I did ur damn right no one would be getting a whole lot, because writing is emotionally exhausting and I just don't got time for that

I have a Patreon for my music, but no one really cares. :P This is why we are called 'starving artists'. Although I do happen to make a pretty good career out of my writing, art, music, website development, graphic design, and apps. :P
