    It's late

But my brain isn't quiet. I'm stoned out of my goddamn gourd. Don't worry, it is just my usual regimen of drugs. That's how I spent a lot of my time now. Wasted. Doesn't really help with the pain much, but makes it a bit more tolerable. All of my drugs cost over 5 grand a month. That's what it takes to keep me going. I'm in somewhat better shape because of all of it, and there's a few bright

    Cyborgification is potentially a-go

Finally found a doctor that didn't run screaming upon seeing my spine images and xrays. The team is coming together. Met with the neurosurgeon the other day, and he thinks I am an ideal candidate for augmentation. The transition is happening, I think. I still have to pass a psych evaluation and other steps, but I am closer now than ever. First I'll have the trial run; they'll sink electrodes into

    Today, life changes forever.

It's been a long, long road to get to this point. A big thank you to everyone who has been with me during this journey.

I suppose it is time for an update

Been meaning to this, and I've become the King of Pro-Crasty Nation. I kept wanting to report, but there was nothing to report, no good news at all, so I just... didn't. Sorry. Went a bit silent on my end. It just sorta happened.

I finally got a lawyer willing to take up my case. After that, things started happening.

That Sumac will still be cutie mark-less at the end of Trixie Lulamoon and the Horrendous Hypothesis. As I go over my story outline, I keep snagging on this one point and it IRKS me. For some reason, the story feels unfinished because of this one element. It is driving me crazy. I don't know what to do. It feels like an unfinished end. It's making me barmy and I really, really hate it.

Some random spoilers, because I can.

Sumac has a bit of a chat with Big Mac on what it means to be a stallion. Big Mac offers some advice. Expect a chatty Big Mac, he has a lot to say on the subject.

This is a story about adoption.

No more Applejack cameos? :ajsmug:

We're negotiating her contract.

Have to say that, to me, you totally telegraphed the overarching subject. Not a bad thing, mind.

that just means there's more story to tell, sequels in the great wild yonder of your mind.

Does Sumac need to have his cutie mark by the end of the story?

Will the story be unusual if he does not? e.g., Will he be much older than a typical blank flank?

If the problem is just that the story flow has been laid out and there isn't chapter space devoted to his cutie mark acquisition, I don't see that as much of a problem. You could easily write a side-story which happens as some point during Horrendous Hypothesis where he acquires a cutie mark, perhaps during a spring break or some other similar downtime. Not every major event in Sumac's life needs to be contained within this single story - plus, it means his cutie mark story could have a different tone without being disruptive. If Horrendous Hypothesis is just going to conclude in a relatively short amount of time, relative to Sumac, then you could just leave the topic of Sumac getting a cutie mark to another tale.

Yeah, I know, I'm just being stoopid about this. It just feels like an important unfinished end. It's like looking at a sweater and seeing a dangling bit of yarn just hanging down.

Ugh.

Just make a sequel story where Sumac gets his cutie mark. If you feel it's an unresolved event that won't be resolved in the story you're writing, figure out how it would be resolved. (Even if it wouldn't be long or involved enough to be a published story on fimfiction.)
