Not really big on fanfic writing, but when I'm in the mood I'll jot something down from time to time. I'd much rather frequent sites like YouTube, DeviantArt, and Facebook

My little brother + A toast to the New Year! · 12:09am Dec 31st, 2015

My little bro sometimes hangs out in my bedroom from time to time when he's bored and isn't in the mood to deck out his car. Sometimes -SOMETIMES - he'll go on my Xbox to play a game. And I enjoy this. I like having him in my room to play a game with me or on his own.

The thing is...

He doesn't really play video games.

Let me explain. If a video game has a hub world in it, he will NEVER go and play a level. He will stay in the hub world and mess about. Now, while he's every right to do what he considers to be fun, he gets bored really quickly afterwards and blames the game for it.

Ryan, my dear little brother, when you choose to use a grappling hook to swing from the SAME DAMN TREE BRANCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN, you mister have NO right to call the game boring if you chose not to play a level for actual challenge.

He's just come off playing Skyrim after doing nothing but shoot arrows in the air trying to hit townspeople. Thing is, he's not a master of trick shots like those geeks on YouTube, so they either fell in a fountain or landed on a roof.

It's no big deal really, but I just don't understand why he doesn't play a game properly. He says he's enjoying messing about doing meaningless things, but then he gets bored and goes back to his mobile phone five minutes later. He's never played a video game for the levels or the story or anything other than to just...mess about doing nothing.

If any of you have brothers or sisters like this, what advice can you give me to get him out of this funk? I enjoy my bro hanging out with me now and then, and I feel we can bond better over video games because games truly are great for friends and family to connect with each other. But when he turns on a game and immediately goes back to his damn phone it gets irritating very quickly, and if it's not the phone it's just him not even bothering to explore the game properly.

I know this isn't a huge deal to you guys and gals, but I love my little bro more than he thinks at times. So any advice you might have to help me improve this experience would be heavily appreciated. Maybe some of you have had similar troubles with your siblings before, so you could pass a bit of knowledge my way?

Other than that, my Mega Man animation is still in the prep stages, but I'm hoping to start drawing the frames by the first week of January, and I may well need some voices for the Robot Masters if you're interested in having your voice in the video. :)

And as always, both old and new followers of mine; stay beautiful, and keep making this world a better place by doing what good deeds you can for those around you and your loved ones. You all have the power to make a difference to other's lives. You make a difference to mine each day, so there's proof in my claim. :)

Be safe all of you, and I hope you will also join me in my special 2015 toast to the New Year. Each of you grab a glass of wine or sparkling lemonade or whatever and toast the new year of 2016 together with me on the last day of December, sending a photograph of your toasts to kjcharlesworth44@gmail.com and I'll put us all into a video celebrating the New Year.

This is optional of course and I mean this only as a nice treat to end this year in a special way, as a means of concreting our friendships and all that soppy stuff you don't care for but tolerate from me anyway cause' you're just too nice to me. :)

See you all again soon. I need some sleep.

I used to be the same way with video games i think the game that got me out of that state of mind was jak 3 and kingdom hearts 2 damn those games were my childhood

3652654 Is Jak 3 the one that has a giant mech boss at the end of the game that destroys a village if you don't shoot its feet/legs in time, and then you climb up it to fight another boss that you finished with a rocket launcher of sorts?

If so, I effing loved that game, and I miss it. One of the best games I enjoyed on the PS2. Until my brother Jon tried to put a cheats chip into the thing and it corrupted every save file on the damn thing.

3652660 I do believe so and sorry to hear about I was a 15 year old idiot who sold his ps2 and all his ps2 games and i think i got not even 50 dollars for it all

3652654 It's like, my little bro actually likes racing games, but he never plays the story mode of those games. He just does time trial over and over again for no real gain.

I mean, sure there's nothing wrong with that, but isn't the point of the game to, you know, actually race?

So you see my problem with him at the moment? If I had a second control pad MAYBE I could play with him and see different results, but then we loop back to the other problem - that damn phone of his.

Believe it or not, that phone of his causes more trouble than you'd think they could. If he's not playing obnoxious videos loudly when we're watching something on tv, he's playing daft (though admittedly sometimes funny) videos when he's supposed to be playing a video game. Why waste turning on my Xbox for him when he can just lose himself watching John Cena memes?

I shouldn't be posing my problem on my followers, but I'm turning to you guys and gals because I'm not the smartest person on this earth, and I really think a little outside help could be useful. Teachers learn as much from students as students from teachers after all. Or so that Chinese saying goes anyway. XD

3652664 Not even 50 dollars? Jesus, there are kids who'd still pay 100 dollars over here in Britain. In pounds I mean, I'm applying conversions and stuff. XD

Find a game with a 'percentage of the game complete' meter (games with side quests and minigames that you have to complete to get the percentage up, lots of games have these), then challenge him to see who can get the highest percentage in an hour from the beginning of the game. Although, you should skip the tutorial.

Maybe try the dead rising game's always fun to use a lawnmower on a zombie, my brother would spend a long time just putting masks on zombies and using a golf club to shoot balls at them . Maybe make a challenge with him who can kill the most zombies using creative ways .
