All I Ask of My Self Before This Fandom Dies [A Gift to My Followers] · 11:29am Dec 25th, 2015
is to write 3 great stories.
2 will be in 5,000 to 20,000 word range. I know what they are and what they will be about. I just need to actually start writing them.
And an epic of at least 50,000 words, because I feel that will show that I can actually write a book.
I freely admit that yes I do do a lot of what I do because I want to be popular, even though most of my stories are pretty okay at best and uninspired shit at worst. I said most. I know I've written some good stuff, but it's still all so damn short.
I want to make an impact and be remembered fondly like Ponky, riding out in a blaze of glory. Sure, I'm self-centered in that respect, but at least I'm honest with myself.
But you know what? I'm not going anywhere if I DON'T write.
I suspect the 2017 movie will be the series finale. If that is the case, I give the fandom about a year to live on until it inevitably begins its slow decline.
So here is my gift to you, royal followers past, present, and future, for the next three years:
750 Words a Day
Why 750?
365 x 3 x 784 + 142,040 = 1000520
I've published 142k words so far, in the 2.5 years I've been here. I have at least 10,000 words of unpublished stuff sitting around waiting to be finished. So if I write 750 words of Pone fiction every day, I will have contributed a million words to this fandom before it fades away. That's a legacy I'm okay with. Even is some days I'm just typing the word "shit" 750 times in a row to get something on paper, it's still something. And I know some days I'll type more than 750 words. But a million words. That's my goal. Let's do it.
Merry Christmas
Sounds like you have a good, solid goal there. The standard advice of going full Twilight Sparkle and setting a schedule still applies. I, for one, prefer to stick to story and scene goals, not word count. Although it is strange to consider that about one fifth of my work takes place in the same headcanon. Same single story, even.
Anywho, the fandom may not die, but somebody's going to. My money's on Discord, but it may be Celestia and Luna. Wouldn't be a Hasbro franchise if no one died at the end, after all.
You're more than welcome to join the Filly fandom if pony dies, by the way. We have cupcakes, unless some neighga keeps stealing them. Personally, I'm writing my own equine-populated universes now. Not with blackjack and hookers, but with cider and gay jokes, so close enough
3641841 Is Filly Fantasia even on air yet?
I suspect Hasbro will keep producing G4 content until we stop paying for it.
3641859 To be honest bro I need some motivation as well. I dunno but my word output is lacking as well.

It's due for 2016 now. So no, not yet it's not. But that hasn't stopped me
In all seriousness, though: don't get hung up on word count. That way lies madness. Not to mention, if you have procrastination issues, you want to be writing without the distraction of a real-time updated word count in the first place. Disable that in regular word processors, or just switch to a TeX format. An Excell file with timetables and word goals helps a lot in keeping track of things, too. But, again, personal preferences, do what feels best.
And have fun
