A Oneshot/(Possibly) Full Story is Planned. Need Input! · 10:52pm Dec 24th, 2015
Hi all,
One type of story that's missing from my portfolio (and that a couple have asked me for) is a TRUE HiE: Human and an actual Pony. I've done ponies, I've done Humans, I've done Human x Anthro, but no Human x Pony.
Anthro was always fun and still is, but I feel the site has changed and a lot of people just don't like new anthro fics anymore (which is why I kinda worry for the fate of My Other Best Friend, Stella). So, it's time to get some true Human and Pony up in this bitch.
Therefore, I come to you all. I have no shortage of ideas to run with, but I do have a creativity failure when it comes to the ponies themselves. So, what pony(ies) would you like to see me write about with a (male) human? All opinions welcome.

Hmmm...I submit Applejack/male human, Twilight/male human, or Derpy Hooves/male human.

I honestly can't get enough of Stella, I'd read anything with her name in it in an instant!
If it was me, I would be aiming more for human X pony where both sides have experience in a similar area (for some fun ideas).
Like an actual fashion designer X Rarity, Farmer X Applejack, a real King or Queen X Celestia or Luna. To which, I would to be apart of those stories in the editing process... (Insert selfless plug).

I'm afraid I have no input. Human x Pony shipping just doesn't do it for me.
The only exception ever is the one going on in Equis II, but part of what makes that so fun is that nothing about it was forced. And I don't mean forced as in "the writer proclaims". I mean forced as in "it's ponies or nothing", which most HiE shipfics are. (I can overlook it in Anthro Equestria stories because I find anthro ponies sexy, so the "this or nothing" aspect would never even be thought about if it was me in the Human's shoes). My fascination for the one you have going in Equis II is that it's a human and a mare who can easily spend time with their own species or each others that have developed a natural (and adorable) emotional attachment and chosen each other over any number of other options.
So...beyond this, no input from me.
3641049 Pusspuss is already doing that with 5 characters. It would be better if the story was about characters at odds in the beginning and slowly building a tension and attraction between them. Kinda like how Batman and Catwoman are.

I don't understand where your statement has anything to do with my comment.
I referenced the only example of HxP shipping I like, explained why, and then contrasted it with the standard HiE formula about why such relationships tend to start. I said nothing about how the ship begins, which is what your statement has to do with.
And I got my fill of "they hate each other, so they get together" after five seasons of Ranma 1/2 pushing Akane as the good choice.
I think it would be interesting to see something a little more different. Pegasi and Unicorns are SO common for these kinds of stories and alicorns are very over rated for this. Why not pick an earth pony? Even better, go off my earlier comment about batman and catwoman and put the characters at odds and build the attraction from there; still keeping the tension between them.
I'm thinking a lesser known earth pony. That way you can build an attraction for her and start a new trend?
And please, for the love of all things holy give the characters uncommon names. Names you wouldn't hear that often and yet feel right for the character.
First off,
Please do not drop or abandon that fic! We need more Stella if anything.
Secondly, why don't you keep the new story AWAY from the mane 6 or royalty. There is plenty of that as it is. Do what you do best and stick with OC ponys you make. Personally, I like your OC's better than the main ones. You can do alot more with HumanxOC anyways. Keep him out of Ponyville and keep him away from Canterlot castle. Canterlot city is fine as long as the human stays away from the castle proper. And please avoid 'The One', 'Deus ex Humana', or 'Anon vs. The World' scenarios if you can. There is alot of those as it is on this site.
Just make the human a random goober trying to make it another day in magic pony land.
Or.........go a-bit wild and do something that's a-bit more rare on this site like HumanxGriffon or something like that.

Start with something more original; or at least, less commonplace.
Call me crazy, but I get the impression that the anthro thing is like the stock market; goes up and down at free random based off of a series of factors. Some stories do great while others are just kinda meh... Some of it has to do with writing, others (and I'd agree with this) is the "same song and dance" mentality that someone gets when the look at a story. Hell, you can write some of the best stuff on the web and it comes up as meh because of the though that it's been done before. Just my two cents...

You've done such a marvellous job of writing Stella as a foul mouthed Scot. I would love to see your take on the opposite gender... Say... oh, I dunno' (just off the top of my head.) A foul mouthed Aussie bloke perhaps? A bloke who doesn't use the language with malice. He's a perpetually jovial natured sort of bloke, who just happens to be rather free with his "sentence enhancers." It's how he's always talked around his mates.
You could possibly have him casually use "his version" of the English language around say... a prim and proper

Weeeell, it seems like I'm rather late to this party. I've got an idea for you. You could do a series of one shots; use the first chapter or two to establish your male, his backstory, who he is, why he's there, etc, etc, and then every chapter after could be a one shot with a different mare each; like looking into different timelines to see what might have been. You know, all the wibbley wobbly, timey wimey... stuff. That's just my idea, feel free to do whatever with it. If you don't go this route, I'd think Queen Chrysalis, Vinyl Scratch, or Octavia would be great; your guy could be a musician!
