I started writing a new chapter for cost, and the next thing I know, it's a fricken' monstrosity of a chapter, possibly, no, not possibly, I'm certain it's the largest single chapter I've ever written. And. It's. Not. Done.

I can relate to that. The last draft of my next chapter came out to more than twice the length of the longest of my other chapters.
And how many words do you consider a monstrosity? I've seen chapters exceeding 70K+ words.

3586060 My average chapter is about 4-6k, and the last few I've posted for substitute were about 5 each. The other chapters of cost were 7, 7, and 4. It's at 11 right now, and I still haven't finished this scene, or the closing scene. I've also decided to add a quick little thing to the start, so that's going to be at least another hundred there. It's looking like it may even hit 13-14
It's already the longest thing I've written to date, and its not done!

also I know what you mean. I've played a RTS game where I have a unit attack somethings that wanted my base location to be their new home. Should have been a cake walk with how weak my invaders were.
BUT as I soon discovered, the chain reaction effect of its weapon didn't discriminate between friend and foe.
my base , that I spent 30min building and fortifying, was wiped out in the space of 15sec
I was so overwhelmed I cried "I hate my life"

Oh, and I went and linked Substitute to its smut chapter. I didn't think about it, but I had the first experience for Din and Cimmy in a fic, but didn't attach it to the chapter. Fixed that.
