Explaining the main antagonist · 7:58pm Oct 10th, 2015
It seems that a lot of people are thinking that XANA is just winning for no reason at all, and I want to let everyone know that this isn't the case. My goal is to portray XANA as a real and terrible threat. Up until now, our heroes have been treating XANA a bit like a monster of the week villain, but bit by bit they've been learning that XANA is indeed a true threat. The last episode was meant to show them just how dangerous he is, and that if they plan on beating him they need to step up their game.
As for XANA not giving them a break, keep in mind that he's a computer program. He's made to do whatever he can do, whenever he can do it. XANA isn't just going to sit around and do nothing while our heroes play around. He's going to take every advantage he can.
Also, I'm not going to just give the main protagonists an easy time. My goal is to give them as rough of a time as possible and see them grow to tackle whatever comes their way. Keep in mind that as great as they are, they're still teenage girls fourteen at the youngest and sixteen at the oldest. They're not quite at the level of growth yet where they're action heroes yet, but they'll get there.
That's it. Just wanted everyone to know that I'm not trying to make XANA perfect. In fact, I'm already working on the next episode and while I won't spoil it, I will say that readers will be very happy, as this was my plan from the start.
I have an idea, XANA is a computer program essentially, 0s and 1s, logic, and while he has SOME emotions, or at least theoreticaly understanding of them, he's like the Nobodies from Kingdom Hearts, he doesn't quite GET them, he knows how to manipulate them, but he doesn't understand them very much, so, the trick would be to think so far out of the box it doesn't make any sense. Translation, get Deadpool, or Equestrian Discord or someone equally insane, they'd probably be able to give XANA a headache.
It's not that I think you're making him perfect or anything but it's the fact that all you've been DOING is making him win and win in subtle ways and it's getting irritating.
It's a good idea. Most villains in TV nowadays are usually black and white. "I want to take over the world because I can and I don't need to feel threatened by you because I have god-level power." When I was watching Code Lyoko, I'll be honest, I felt hurt at how XANA went after the LW. This XANA, the one you've done? He's terrifying.
TERRIFYING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!
He's that kind of villain that gives you a reason to be scared of him when he already scares you. If you are familiar with the DC universe, you know of Eobard Thawn, AKA Professor Zoom/The Reverse Flash. The only thing different between him and XANA is that he has a physical body. They both have enough power to terrify the bravest heroes.
But to be honest, I like that. I've never been a fan of those villains who come up with some convoluted way to make their enemies miserable just for the hell of it. XANA hits you everywhere: physically, mentally, emotionally. It took me up until they freed William to belive they could actually win without sacrifice... well, too much sacrifice anyway. He's the kind of villain that keeps me interested. As I say, "The show is for the hero, but everyone loves a great villain."... I'm blabbing, aren't I?
3458510 I vote Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls.
3458554
I vote Bugs Bunny. Why? Nanomachines, son. That, and it'd be hilarious to see Bugs Bunny outsmart XANA.
3458560 Bugs Bunny could outsmart Sherlock Holmes! But let's be honest, there is no easy solution to XANA.
3458597
Yep. Only way to beat Bugs is not to fall into his games, because the moment you do, you've lost. He's THAT good.
You got that many complaints? I was just worried about a good villain going stale.
Ex: More and More power? Xana is always winning because what they planned is what he expected? Same as the last three chapters.
That formula gets old and stale real fast.
And you've done a very....very good job at it to the point where my feelings of hatred for the AI have grown....to the point where Pinkie semi-quoted a line I used.
Actually....Flutters I believe would....kind of....sort of be....some years older than the others. And I quote why:
....That was related to Aelita and since Flutters is Aelita well....yeah...by the way....
Break the Cutie
Please stop....I...I already love Flutters enough as it is...
3460979 You're right about Fluttershy's age in this story. Technically SHE'S the oldest on the Lyoko 6, as she was fifteen when she was put in the super computer and it was shut down for ten years. Even though she hasn't actually aged, she's technically 25 years old.
3461181 Yeah....big...big Lyoko nerd if you haven't figured.
3462244 You're talking to the girl that combined Code Lyoko with MLP, and put in the effort to make XANA more threatening, fix all the plot holes, and come up wit her own story lines.
Who's a Lyoko nerd here?
3462545 Okay....so we're both Lyoko nerds. And as I've said before.....kudos for all of what you've done. Lyoko would certainly be a different show if it was rebooted with your story ideas in it.
More threatening XANA....fixed and streamlined plots....plenty of character development that if applied to Aelita would make me adore the Lyoko Princess even more...
