    So I'm watching the premiere

No, I haven't watched season 8. Yes, I am watching because Chrysalis, Tirek, and Sombra are back. Also, why was an eight year old in Tartarus, who made that decision?

    Making It Official

I haven't been active on the site for over a year. I have occasionally checked in to see how everyone was doing, but I've barely gotten any writing done here. I know I left on a hiatus last year and said I might come back to the site one day, but that's looking less likely with every passing day.

So, I'm making it official; I'm leaving.

Guys... I have a confession to make... · 12:45am Oct 2nd, 2015

I'm gonna go ahead and put this under the cut because... this is kinda serious...

I'm a very loyal person. I tend to stick to one side when it comes to most things, although I usually begin in the gray area to begin with. However, this is one of the few instances where I switch sides about something... What I'm trying to say is I'm... I'm...

I'M A SHADOWBOLT.

DON'T LOOK AT ME, I'M HIDEOUS... (No, but I actually like that hairstyle more, tbh...)

OK, so this is obvi not a serious blog post and just a silly joke to announce my love for the Shadowbolts. Sure, there wasn't as much development for them as I would have liked, but apparently I have a thing for undeveloped antagonistic characters. Also, I really like the whole idea of Crystal Prep in general and I reaLLY WANNA WRITE ABOUT IT UGH WHY MUST I BE DISTRACTED SO EASILY?

This was honestly everything I ever wanted from the movie... UNF, HUMAN SOMBRA LOOKS SO GOOD, TOO.

However, I think you should all know who my favorite is...

SURPRISE.

Yeah, so amazingly Pinkie's supposed foil, Lemon Zest, wasn't my fave Shadowbolt, mostly because she didn't have enough lines to leave an impression on me. However, Sugarcoat is just so blunt, sassy, and all-around fab. I love her.

She's still cute, though, I'll give her that.

I don't know what it is about her, but I just really enjoy Sugarcoat as a character and I like her design, even tho she looks like Trixie, but whatever, they might related.

We all have a bitchy cousin. If you don't, you are the cousin.

I've also read this one story that has her as the main focus of it and I just ADORE reading it.

Sugarcoat Interferes In Pony History

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EQUESTRIA GIRLS: FRIENDSHIP GAMES. Spoilers are primarily in the rest of the description, but may come up intermittently in the story itself.

When Midnight Sparkle opens rifts in the world around her, Sugarcoat falls through one of them. She lands in a strange new world, finding herself in a new, equine body, having also managed to fall back through time. How will she get back to her own time and place?
That doesn't matter right now. Right now, it's funnier if she ends up getting caught up in major events in the lives of the ponies around her. So come and read as Sugarcoat leaves her own mark on pony history in the most blunt way possible.

I'm hoping to update this daily.

God, I love her so much... AND I LOVE THE SHADOWBOLTS AND I LOVE HOW MEAN THEY ARE AND I LIKE THEIR DESIGNS AND AND AND. OK, I need to calm down... Just need a reminder that Sombra wasn't in the movie, so it's not like it matters anyhow.

...Except that I am a traitor to the Wondercolts. WAAAAAAAAAAH.

Just Harmony chillin' with Sugarcoat, nothing to see here...

Just remembered... Never did review that movie, did I? Well, I enjoyed the graphics and the animations was AWESOME, but I know that plot-wise, it was kinda weak in comparison to RR and the songs weren't as great, either. I still listen to them all the time, tho.

Also, THERE WAS A DELETED SONG AND I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO IT ALL DAY, LISTEN TO IT:

I GOT CHILLS, OOOOOOOOOOO.

OK, so who wants to discuss EG: Friendship Games?

What's that website where you got the top screenshot?

I do! Honestly, lemon is my fav but that's because what she does in the movie....I do every day...rock out on headphones and try to avoid talking to people.

Nice "I Want" duet, emphasizing their shadows of each other's archetypes.

It's from my EG app on my phone! It updated today, so I've been playing it a bit.

That EG version of Sombra reminds me of Iskandar from Fate/Zero concretebadger.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rider-gets-a-round-in.jpg

3435702 If Sombra wasn't into crystals, he'd be into stairs. If he wasn't into stairs, it'd be beer.

Hey do you think they would have been a better if they had left it with the sunset sing duet

I thought it was decent, for a kids movie. I'll be honest, I was spoiled by the awesomeness that was Rainbow Rocks, and was hoping for something as good, if not better. Friendship Games wasn't, in my opinion, as good as RR, and about on par with the first movie. Some decent musical numbers, good animation, and some interesting character designs. The story was not at all fleshed out, though. I can't pinpoint what exactly made me dislike this movie, I feel like it just had parts that rubbed me the wrong way. Like how Principal Cinch was too accepting of the concept of magic, or how we had less than ten minutes of a real threat. I'll admit, I wanted more of Midnight Sparkle. Could have done some neat stuff with her. But no, she was there then poof! Defeated. Too many unfavorable comparisons to the first EQG.
I do like how they gave spoilers for the Season 5 finale in that last scene with Pony-Twilight's exposition though.

You're the first person I've seen who actually likes the Shadowbolts. Literally everyone I've seen so far has said the movie was decent except for one big flaw, the Shadowbolts, because they were criminally underdeveloped. Everyone likes Sugarcoat anyways though.

Beer fermented from Crystal berries?

Well, no surprise on your favorite Shadowbolt. Since I'm not counting Twilight as one, I'm gonna have to say I like Sugarcoat a lot as well. Bluntness is always appreciated xD

And I think Discord is absolutely the principal of the school after Principal Cinch's... departure.

Honestly, I like this version better.

I personally enjoyed the movie; it was just plain awesomeness all around.

Okay, I'm going to be that guy... What's up with Chrissy? :rainbowhuh: That dress is barely covering her coochy! There's long legs and short dresses, and then there's this...

I sort of think it's a shame they "paired" Pinkie Pie with Lemon Zest visually, and Sugar Coat with Applejack. Perhaps the intent was to show the backlash of brutal honesty? She reminded me of Pinkie the whole time (and that exposition dump at the end didn't hurt the comparison either). I'm thinking that Shadowbolts shouldn't get paired one-on-one against the Rainbooms because they're not so one-dimensional that they can be foils; on the other hand this is a point for the SBs for having enough characteristics to not match up perfectly to specifically one girl.
I actually really liked the Shadowbolts... it doesn't bother me for them to be pretty flat because now we have a great fandom to pick up the pieces! :trollestia:

As much as I love that deleted scene (thank you for that by the way) I prefer it out of the movie. Before you hate me, hear me out: in my ideal world, the scene would be fully animated an extended version music video (like Awesome As I Wanna Be or Tricks Up My Sleeve from Rainbow Rocks).
Dammit I love the homesick Sunset angle, but the Friendship Games was too ill-timed already to properly explore it at all. And it gives too much hope for a 4th movie (Equestria Girls 4: Back to Equestria :rainbowlaugh:) or a Sunset-in-Equestria episode for my bitter heart to handle. There's too many feels to process.

I liked Friendship Games, but I didn't absolutely love it. The first two movies were well-paced in that their climax was a long time coming, rather than sneaking up on you because it ran out of time. The songs were a middle ground, more innovated than the first, less engaging than the second. The villain was dull without any redeeming lines, quirks, or visuals. Plus I feel Sunset got shafted various times but ultimately got her magical level-up :raritystarry:

Oh man, can you imagine how hilarious family gatherings are between someone who is brutally honest, and Trixie?

3437873
Trixie: Sugarcoat.
Sugarcoat: Lulamoon.
Sunset: Wha-- You two know each other?
Trixie: You could say that...
Sugarcoat: We know each other because we're related.
Sunset: WHAT?
Sugarcoat: Trixie doesn't talk about it because she despises my side of the family because of the issues she has with her mother.
Trixie: Well Trixie doesn't need you to air her personal business!
Sugarcoat: Trixie also doesn't know how to speak in first person, but I'm sure you already knew that.

3438467 :trollestia: :trixieshiftleft: I can only imagine the one disastrous performance Trixie gave before she banned Sugercoat for life:

"There's a mirror in that disappearing box, she has a dove in her sleeve and your cape is looking really ragged."
"Trixie is never bringing you up on stage as a random member of the audience again!"
"It wasn't random, you told me before the show started to duck into the trap door as soon as you said the magic words."

THIS NEEDS TO BE STORY, OMG.
