Turns out it really wasn't that bad after all...
So, I've got some good news for everyone involved: though the new part probably won't be out by this week (as I'm super busy), If You Give a Little Love has been able to maintain its canonicity after last episode and will continue to be fully operational. Surprisingly, the only change I'm going to have to make will be about how Coco gets her flower. The canon version is super sweet and I love how it was given to her by her role model, Charity Kindheart...
...and how much it twists the already painful knife of Part Nine's ending, knowing that Mosely is essentially metaphorically ripping Coco away from her past and replacing that with, well, him.
Now, I'm getting a lot of ideas about how the orange flower is the "dark counterpart" to the usual red barrette. For one thing, both gifters gave theirs to Coco as a show that they wanted to stand by her side and help her grow and change. But Mosely doesn't just want to change Coco, he wants to mold her. He wants to remove her from her friends (like he already did to Scene) and eventually even her family. It's not consensual or genuine in any way. And should Coco ever find out about what Mosely did so many years ago...let's just say she'll end up feeling like she was never really reformed at all.
But that's enough of that for now. The two lasting things I have about this episode are as follows:
1.) When Rarity first told Applejack "no moseying," I misheard it as...well, you can probably guess. Now I want to make a literal "No Mosleying" sign graphic with a big "no" circle through his face, because boy, are we going to need it.
2.) If the red flower was a gift all along, and if Coco got it about ten years ago, and if it's out of style and considering that eBay doesn't exist in Equestria...how the hell did Mosely find the orange one?!
(Also, I watched EqG and enjoyed it quite a bit, too. Those very, very few of you who know about my IRL novel projects might've drawn parallels between Twi's arc and someone else's like I did...
)
Yeah, poor Twilight in EqG3, that was a sucky school.
And yeah, that newest episode does create a few more deep implications regarding the flower. He's a dirtbag, nuff said.
I'm glad you can keep going without having to feel like retconning something.

It kind of makes me think of Stelle's arc a little. Except Twi won't have near so many negative repercussions.
And I'm glad I won't have to retcon anything...though how Mosely got the other flower still flummoxes me. I'm honestly pleasantly surprised they did a little thing about the flower's origins. And tiny filly Coco is a detail I will always be happy to have.
Just glad they didn't show her parents after all the work I just underwent creating them in fanon.

Just remember that canon going forward doesn't have to make you change everything. If you wrote it first, then just say that you ignore what they made more recently in favor of the prepared storyline.
And yeah, it's quite a bit like Stelle, isn't it?

Yeah, but I feel like it's a change I'd like to approach. Also, if you look really closely (even I didn't catch it without other fans online pointing it out), not only does Babs appear as a background pony, but the pony she appears with was already projected to get some screen time with her in the fic. You haven't met my version of her quite yet.
And actually, Twi in EqG3 is more of a mix of Stelle and my original conception of Omega. Originally, instead of just having to pretend to be in a relationship with him, Clay was going to be her captain on top of that, and her teammates weren't the best either. Just like Twilight, she ended up turning into an Actress right when she was pushed to her limit most, except Omega never absorbed magic; she just couldn't control her natural inborn magic. (Which are still a problem and for this reason, when I first watched Frozen, I reeeeally saw Elsa as a composite of her and Valka.). But basically, I figured that was too much contrived suffering for her and that she needed a nice captain and at least one good teammate like Valka. So Clay got demoted.
Also, I'm still not all that popular, but I'll see what I can do about your blog post.

And now I want to see tiny Coco plushies. Coco was already cute enough, but then they have to give her braids...
