Wish I had a new chapter to mark the occasion, but by coincidence I did release a new chapter of Rise of Firefly on the same day. Hard to believe it's been nearly two years since I started this, and the end is now in sight, around six or seven chapters away. It's been a long, slow climb to 200, but I've certainly gotten some help along the way, from DEL most notably--his advertising my story caused a surge of new readers in the spring, and his indulgence in letting me tell the story of one of his bit characters has been a great honor.
Let me start with some acknowledgements. First, to Still Waters for the eye-catching cover art. That more than anything else has helped grab reader attention. I'd also like to thank my prereading crew along way, from DEL himself to Permanent Temporary and more recently, other Gentlemanverse authors like AJ_Aficionado and Denim_Blue. Their help, and the active participation of many G4M authors and readers in the Q&A sessions has helped make this story as good as it is. Now it's time to bring it home... and consider starting work on the sequel.
So where does the story go from here? Well, there is going to be one change from what I originally planned. I originally had Five Stars being in five different herds over the course of the six years prior to the portal opening, but I think I'm now reducing it to four. And the last herd... well, let's just say it'll only be touched on briefly and be modeled in part after my own disastrous stay in Las Vegas a couple months back--in other words, only briefly noted and best not dwelled on. I'll explain in the author's notes when the time comes.
As promised, the new chapter will include the opening of the portal, and thus will be adding to G4Mverse lore. As has been the case throughout this story, she will not see these events directly, but you'll know her reaction and that of the average Equestrian to the news.
There will be a two-week delay before I start the new chapter, as I have a long-promised editing project to complete on a Call of Duty crossover. In the meantime... if you would like to see the following iconic scene of Full Metal Jacket reenacted by ponies, you are invited to check out the latest chapter of Before the Storm: The Rise of Firefly:
No really, it's there. And keep reading for a pony/gryphon skirmish and prelude to war.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but it will be agony waiting for best OC to meet the earthlings.

My body was not ready for this.
Congratulations!
Hopefully many are ready for whats coming.
