SMT Chapter 30, stuff and stuff · 11:54am Sep 4th, 2015
Before you read this blog post, make sure to read the newest (30) chapter of "Sunny, Moonie, Twily". Spoilers below.
Done? Good.
First of, holy shiiiiiiiip, what a journey it was! So much happened in Manehattan, so little happened back in Canterlot and yet it was so nice and cute and just cool. I shouldn't be gushing over a chapter of my own story, but since I didn't write it, I have all the rights to do it anyway. I don't stress this often enough, but Eyeswirl the Weirded is the best co-writer I could ask for. One day I was like "yo Eyeswirl, here's an idea I just thought of" and he's all like "well, I have plenty of my own stories, your stories, chapters and little to no free time, but I'll do it anyway" and still manage to nail it! So I want to once again thank Eyeswirl the Weirded for all this work, I hope we can continue this way, except I'll try writing more myself and I wish I could reward him with more than just words. And for the love of Celestia's plot, go and read his fics! I don't stress this often enough, but he is one of the most deserving and underappreciated authors I've ever known. Show him some love, not just for his contribution to SMT and Stallionverse as a whole, but to his original work as well!
I mean, that play, with a song, and Luna as Celestia and the lyrics and Horspanish Inquisition and gaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Gush over.
Secondly, I feel like most of you got it but never said it, but all the chapters are actually references to New York related songs, movies and stuff.
1. Tricks in the City Sex in the City
2. No Sleep till Broadhay No Sleep till Brooklyn
3. Sunny Side Story West Side Story
4. Walk on the Moonie Side Walk on the Wild Side
5. Some ponies like to get away New York State of Mind song, first line of lyrics
6. Sing us a Song Tonight A repeating line from Piano Man
Finding matching titles was a lot harder than you think. Some just came naturally, while others we had to really scrape for. The good thing is that we probably won't need to make another Manehattan related mega story ever again.
And third, I want to thank Eyeswirl once again for filling the entire month full of chapters while I was busy at work, experiencing an awful writers block (I blame the weather, it was sunnier and hotter than on most tropical islands) and managing to write so little, that I am really ashamed of myself. Hopefully I'll be able to write more in the next months period.
Meanwhile, next week it's another Q&A. Brace yourselves.
D'awww, shucks.
Huh, I didn't realize that Piano Man had anything to do with New York. I always thought it was left intentionally vague so it could be anywhere, although a quick check on wiki says it is actually based on a real bar in LA which still does not fit with the theme.
Anyways, the Q&A should be fun and I have read some of Eyeswirl's work, although there is quite a bit I have not had time to get to yet.
