    Where art thou, oh Artichoke?

Sorry, I'm a bit busy. I had two hobbies before I got a job. Writing here, and developing AI. I hit a wall here with the new changeling episode, but in my AI development, I found a highway.

Look at my AI! My AI is amazing!

    The New Hive Super Edit

Just letting you guys know I nearly redid the entire last chapter because of a few complaints I got. (In case re-publishing didn't work.) They were definitely valid, even if I didn't agree 100% with the reasoning behind them, and now I think my story's much better because of the changes I made.

    Keep up the constructive criticism!

    Would you like a collab?

I've actually been thinking of adding some collaboration into 'The New Hive' since its inception. I can't really create a realistic representation of humanity all by myself after all.

    Waiting for editors to compile...

So, my next chapter's done. Just need to wait for editors to do their thing. And from what I can see from the first editor, I made quite a few mistakes.

Well, now I have guilt-free free time... What should I do... Hmm...

Sorry I fell off of FimFic for a little while · 12:13am Aug 19th, 2015

A lot of you were probably wondering why I haven't been on Fimfiction for a while...

Well, unfortunately, I've been whisked away on a surprise vacation. I totally didn't have any choice in the thing, and couldn't have accessed the internet there... definitely. (That's a thing, right? Not being able to access the internet on vacations? I mean, i was in New York, not the wilderness, but there's just something 'internet blocking' about vacations.)

Anyway, I'm very, very, very sorry I haven't been able to work on my fic, 'The New Hive', and missed another Friday. I mean, I know the Fimfiction writer's motto: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these writers from the swift completion of their appointed chapters." But it just wasn't possible. Besides, they didn't mention anything about waterfalls.

The beautiful Niagara Falls is like the waterfall of tears falling down my face as I yearn to complete another chapter.

You know what? I don't think I'm coming off as the the victim very well here. Well, I'll show you a few pictures I took of my mandatory vacation. That should do it.

Okay, here's an album:

First, I went to a comedy show. There, some comedians made some jokes about politicians. Fun fact: when you're in the audience, your laughs are being recorded on microphones to later be put on TV. I didn't want to be shown up, and some of the jokes were pretty funny, so after that I had a sore throat for the rest of the day. It's a good thing I went to the nightly show then.

Here we see the legendary buttermoth.

You see, due to the smog and ozone produced from all the taxi drivers and the black magic they use to weave in between cars like friggin' snakes, some of the local wildlife has fused together. I've heard of creatures like the birdog, or the ptereowalrus, but I wasn't fortunate enough to get pictures of them.

Obligatory Statue of Libery photo.

Here's a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge viewed from the water. It reminds me of how I always kind of wanted to figure out the math behind making strong bridges, but never really got around to it. I guess that sort of research is more of a two player thing. Anyone want to help figure it out with me?

Here's the Brooklyn Bridge up close. I think I caught a pretty good view of its underside, and I have to say... that supporting structure.

Unf.

I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of technology and general awesome manmade stuff, but I'd walk across that bridge any day of the week.

Last but not least, we have one of the New York Anti Air turrets.

After 911, everyone know the United States stepped up their game when it came to military technology, but few realize that New York is at the forefront of that innovation. Now, even if Al Queda does manage to hijack a plane and fly it towards a building, they'll get sniped or blown up long before the plane manages to hit anything.

Notice the UPS center in the background. You can tell it's one of the more well off businesses, because it managed to purchase land well within the turret's firing range.

There. Wasn't that beautiful? New York really is an interesting place.

What was I talking about again? Something about updates? Chrysalis? Stories?

Oh well. I'll think of it eventually. In the mean time, I've got some buttermoth DNA to fiddle with.

Did you at least stop by one of the small-time locales in Brooklyn? May not seem like a very nice place, thanks to Hollywood, but it's actually rather safe, as long as you stay out of any alley that has less than 3% and more than 12% of its floor covered in trash!

Too bad ypu only found a buttermoth, I hear there's a cockrmouse (cockroach mouse) somewhere around there.

SUCH VICTIM
MUCH POOR YOU
HOW TERRIBLE
(i got lost in that one underground mall subway place in new york! it was awesome!)

Ah, don't worry about it. I completely understand how real life surprises get in the way of the importance of writing.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get sucked into real life things. So many authors succumb to the wiles of Reality.... :raritydespair:

3330249

I'm... not sure. I ate at an underground middle eastern restaurant though, and some of the sidewalks were either covered with >50% trash or nearly 0% trash.

3330746

Darn. All I got was a cricket plushie. I need a mutant lifeform to keep as a pet.

3330750

Wait, you got lost in the grand central terminal? I didn't think it was that big... :rainbowderp:

3331023

Aw, thanks for understanding.

3333531

It's true. I think I understand that more than most...

Sometimes I feel like I walk a fine line between reality in writing.
Sometimes I'll walk outside, and hear myself narrating my life in the third person.
Sometimes, when I'm writing my stories, I can walk through them as if they were real life.
I walk the edge of that abyss of reality every night, but I haven't fallen in, and I thank heaven for that.

...I am the batman of writers.

3363556 I'm not sure I've been to that place, yet. And let me now explain the reasoning for the cleanliness of the alleys: less than 3% is basically a hint at the path to a mob-run place or one of the kingpin holes if it's away from the 'scrapers. More than 13% is prime trap potential, as well as home to the hobos that are too proud or scared to go to any of the local shelters. If it's more than 50%, though, then it's just plain old forgotten and full of filth.

3363564

Darn, that seems like the perfect place for some questionable reconnaissance operations.

Just walk by an alley, brush my hand against a wall, and boop, a directional microphone or camera is now broadcasting on an encrypted CDMA stream that looks like noise to anyone who doesn't know the password. And that's just one of the ways I could have fun.

I could also pay for that stuff now since it'd be easier for me to get a job in a place where people aren't as isolated from each other...

I wish I lived in New York.

3363606 People are more likely to talk to you in New York than here in Utah. 'Course, they won't exactly be nice, but fuck it, it's New York!

3363740 Too bad I couldn't have been there to give you a local's tour, eh.

3365110

Heh, thanks. I might come back later though.

3365735 *waggles eyebrows*

3365739

Oh my, are you flirting with me? :duck:

3365945 *shrugs* I dunno anymer.

3367522

It's okay. I often don't know what I'm doing.
