Ok, question about 'ratings' (My Life is a Runway inquiry) · 8:47pm Aug 12th, 2015
Look, it's no spoiler that the new girl is going to want to 'check out' her body. Here's my question.
If she was to say, rub her breasts a bit, would that mean I'd have to add the 'sex' tag despite the fact nothing else really happens? I'm not about to go into detail of her 'playing down there' so personally I think leaving it teen is fine, but I'm not sure how you the readers would feel.
Thoughts?
I think you'd probably be all right leaving it as Teen so long as you don't go overboard.
Are we talkin' like, Evening (or should I say 'Eve', now?
) touches herself a little and sort of awkwardly plays it off (gets interrupted by Rarity coming into the room or something), or are we talkin' like she spends more than a handful of minutes in private moaning and blushing furiously? If you go with the former it's more like comedy than anything else and that should be fine for a Teen story; if it's the latter... I'unno, I think I'd try to keep something like that out of a story unless I was intending to head into cloppy territory, but that might just be me,

I might have to add the sex tag, just because of the descriptive nature of the scenes. I mean there wouldn't be sex, but at the same time if I don't want to skim over what I feel any person in his situation would do. I hate the fact that ratings seem to shy away from what we all know teens think of.
I don't want to go into clop territory per say, but at the same time I don't want to have to water stuff down. :/

Yeah, 'write what you want to write' is always my advice. I mean, worst-case scenario: you write a scene that the mods judge as too hot for a teen rating and they ask you to change it.
There's a good chance that nobody would bat an eye anyway, considering the types of stories that float around this place on a regular basis,

Just to be safe, I've changed it to a mature rating and given warning in the description that I'm going to attempt to keep it mostly teen, but I'm not shying away from going into details on what I want to go into detail on.
Maybe it's for the best. I'm not making this a clopfic, but at the same time I'm not against a chapter having clop. I can always give warning if I go that route.
"Sex" tag is there for sex. Sex means in this case describing an sexual act, as commonly reffered to, fucking, of masturbating.
Heavy amount of adult jokes(not necesserily about sex(it can be about gore)) deserve mature rating of the story, but no "sex" tag.
Again. "Sex" tag is there for sexual acts being in the story.
Everything else is klickbait.
Tags in general serve as a guide to a story. Do i want to read a story with a lot of adventure? I search for adventure tag.
Do i want to read something gory?(as in ponies or other stuff torn apart?) Gore tag
No... Fluttershy getting a papercut isnt gore.....
And you can guess, if there is SEX tag, SEX is expected.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to decide here. There might be some heavy petting, but it's not full on sex. So I don't really want to put the sex tag on the story.
I do think it'll warrant the mature rating though.
Should you realy be unsure , make it like other autors.
Open a separat story, call it "Story xyz : the sexy bits" and post the cloppy chapters there. then link the chapters in the original story somehow.
So the original story is still "teen" , and the extrastory contains all the "clop"

I've seen that around, but I'm not a fan of the idea myself. Mainly because it would mean I'd have to write a scene the way I want it, then go back and edit it so it's watered down and doesn't contain the 'sexy bits' and that takes the fun out of writing for me.
Hopefully having it set to mature, with me putting something like "Chapter 5 (sex)" will be enough to warn people, yes it has sex in the chapter.
I just really don't feel the story can be told without going into a bit of detail from time to time.

YES! thats exactly my opinion.
3316926 The idea isn't to write two different scenes one more watered down than the other, the idea is that you take the porn that you write and put it in a separate story so people who don't read mature stories on Fimfiction can still see your story, while still keeping as much porn in your story as originally planned, just in a separate mature rated story.
So you'd have a missing chapter in the mature story with all the heavy petting you'd care to write, and then the next chapter in the normal story you reference it and move on with the story.
I want to write more and be angry for making me choose between "read the rest of your story" and open the Pandora's box of mature rated stories on fimfiction but I'm too frustrated to trust myself to write that right now.

I think I was unclear. I get the idea. Take the 'sexy bits' and put them in a separate mature rated story, and in the normal story skip over them.
EXCEPT it won't work that way, given with what I'm talking about.
Basically it's this: Guy (Now girl) goes to mirror, is alone. Looking at new breasts. Can't help but fondle them a bit, doesn't touch 'down there' at all, just rubs her new breasts a bit. Story moves on. It's like maybe a paragraph of detail.
I personally would rather not label this story mature, but that scene right there could maybe get me in trouble. That's what I'm worried about. I don't WANT to go back and write it in a way where may it just alludes to what she did, I want to just flat out write it. I can't just skip the scene, and It'd be silly to break the chapter there, put the 'fondling' into a separate chapter, then come back.
If anyone wants me to PM them the scene in question, and see if you think it wouldn't pass teen ratings, I'm more then willing to do that.
3318451 OK I actually went and looked at the FAQ for this sort of thing and I'll spit you an excerpt:
"Just use your best discretion, and feel free to PM a mod if you have a question about the specific content of your story. At worst, you can always submit and be told that a change is required if the rating you've selected doesn't match the discretion of the story-approval team."
So if I were you I'd get in touch with one of the Fimfiction mods if you think it skirts a line since its up to them to decide anyways. From what I can tell from that the worst they can do is just tell you that you need to change the story to mature. There is slightly more in the FAQ if you want to know more about rating a story between Teen and Mature if you want to look at that as well.
