So I began my vacation from work today. I was hoping it'd give me some time to write, but I just got told we may have to put our cat down in a few days.

I'm sorry you have to see her go. I'm sure you gave her a happy life. One way you can think of it is you can at least end her suffering at the end so it's not prolonged.
