If you haven't seen it, and you are not inclined for getting a sneak peak, you can check out a trailer for the upcoming Equestria Girl movie, here. What are my thoughts, you probably aren't asking because why the hell would care what I think?
Well...if most of my ideas hadn't been kept bottled in my head for the past year, I'd say they were totally stealing my bits. Maybe there's a spy on my computer. Suffice to say, I'm pumped to see what the new movie will bring, even if it does throw several car-sized wrenches into my story's continuity. Still, maybe it can help iron out some details in my brain for events in my own story that have yet to be put to paper.
And for those who are curious, next chapter is making slow progress - work has been busy lately. Might take another couple of weeks before its ready.
Did it come with a release date?
All fanfiction is eventually overrided by canon. Don´t let that stop you from finishing a good story.

No sign of the Pony Twilight, but I'm guessing the human Twilight is responsible for the open portals.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised that some of my guesses about the film were confirmed, and I'm looking forward to it even more than I was before!
The 'games' / rivalry part of the movie looked pretty meh to me. However, the abundance of Sci-Twi and the effect she's having... yes please. Also it does look like she's dropping into Equestria at some point. Oh dear.

I care what you think about EQG. You write a damn good Sunset, and I appreciate your thoughts on anything that might involve her.
Given you started writing something like a year before this new movie came out, it would be pretty unreasonable to expect your story to reflect information revealed in it, especially since you've probably planned parts of it out in advance.
When people write stories for ongoing series, it's impossible for them to anticipate everything that might come out in the future. So, just go with what works for your own story and only snag things from the movie that help rather than hinder you.

Anyway, screw canon, this is fanfiction. It only follows canon as far as you want it to follow.

The last Equestria girls had, in my opinion, only one major flaw. And this was that Twilight hijacked the movie and degraded Sunset, the character I was really curious about, to be almost a background character. I fear that this movie will do the same.
Don't get me wrong, it's no problem for human Twilight to be in the movie, but Sunset is a character we don't already know from the series, she is knew and therefore intresting. The human Twilight however could also be new, but if I had to I would bet my money on her being more like Twilight was in "feeling Pinkie keen"
