Not really big on fanfic writing, but when I'm in the mood I'll jot something down from time to time. I'd much rather frequent sites like YouTube, DeviantArt, and Facebook

Definitive proof the 100th episode of MLP was based on fanfiction's takes on some of its background characters... · 6:39pm Jun 17th, 2015

The phrase "slice of life" refers to works of fiction that depict mundane everyday events.

What is the episode title?

Case closed.

Give me a t-shirt.

Everyone already knows this. Boom.

Can I give you a hug instead?

Can the tshirt imply that you'll hand out free blowjobs?

Kinda obvious when Lyra and Bonbon were basically shipped, also Doc and Derpy

3157742 Obviously everyone knows this. Bang.

3157743 You're really piling on the hugs lately aren't you?

3157751 I don't swing that way, Normal.

But what is it when it's being given to a woman?

3157763 Obviously it was so obvious that I just had to let you guys know how obvious it was because it was obvious, obviously.

3157768 But...I like hugs... :fluttershysad:

3157776 But wouldn't your boyfriend like some of those hugs? Don't leave him out if you care for him, dude. Go to him now, Baroque Embrace him, go out for a stroll together. Have a lovely dinner at a fancy eating establishment. Hug like you've both never been hugged before.

3157781 He's in Vermont. I'm in Atlanta. To put that in UK terms, that's like if he were in Aberdeen and I were in Southhampton.

I think it can be argued that the definition you used from Wikipedia (which is surprisingly accurate) is ominous by the term "fiction". The MLP series is a work of fiction, as most telling vision shows, fanfiction, or basically anything that can't directly be looked at in real life.

I'd also like to point out that the term "slice of life" was used long before the series began. Yes, I do agree that the executives at Hasbro paid attention to the usual shipping tropes inside of Fimfiction.com and they almost specifically made this episode for the adult, male fans. Is this good or bad - that Bronies keep this alive and they (the creators) feel obliged to put new and interesting stuff underneath the watchful eyes of 8 year olds? And if they ever stop doing it, will the community boycott the show? I fear what will happen when Hasbro decides to just target the adult fan base more than the children.

3157813 Taken from the MLP Wikia, actually.

3157813 Also, a show can appeal to both kids and adults. It's not hard to do if the creator is willing to put in time and effort. Look at Adventure Time and Regular Show.

But I think that there is a fine line as to where the intended audience should appropriate itself. When does it become apparent?

A better way to describe it is: While shows like Regular Show and Adventure Time ( really creative and fun shows) were created for kids while having adult themes, is it really so inconceivable that it could be mutated into being an adult show while still having the imagination and the animation style of a kids show?

I dont know.

3157949 Only if someone wants to corrupt the concept.

Why? Are you plotting to put tits on Mordecai?

(stares at you suspiciously and angrily)

3157986
Sorry, I don't like to be eaten out. It tickles

Looks attract first, quality qualifies later. As long as it looks great in the short term, does the executives really care if it doesn't look great in the long term?

Nah, the title alone does not prove it. Slice of Life is a category. Technically the entirety of the series can be classified as such.

I don't see the Derpy and Doc shipping in the episode. They appeared to only be friends, and friends that didn't actually know that much about each other. It was pretty obvious Derpy (Muffins I guess) had no clue about all of his inventions or worksshop. She even stated it.

3158001 UNIQUE IS NEVER WRONG!

(gets into a tantrum and throws tables and chairs and Twilight Sparkle around the room)

3158001 Also I just wanted to start a conversation but I didn't know how to, so I took something I found at random because I like talking to my friends and good people I have the honor and privilege of knowing...

3158001 In a fandom where a simple hello is an invitation to shipping, I think that their interaction right before the wedding starts seals the deal.

Specifically when Derpy hugs him and closes her eyes contentedly, saying he looks like a million bits.

3158087 He makes a fair point, Topaz. Besides, who's gonna tell the shippers and convince them otherwise of this relationship?

3158087 And then he blows her off.

Its fine if people want to ship it... I am just saying it didn't look like they were a pair in the show, at all.

3158175 And like I said, it doesn't matter. The shippers will decide who loves who. Like they think they have the right to that kind of power. The sick beings playing God with innocent ponies and interfering with their lives!
