They all vary. When you start fresh, do what you want to do and let the audience figure out who likes that sort of thing.
When you change up an existing IP, you're going to lose some people to They Changed It, Now It Sucks.
Of course if you stay stagnant and never change, people will wander off anyways. So do what feels right to you. Those most sensitive about sexual content will have left already, I'm sure.
