For whatever reason, this last update of Lunar Rebirth has gained more likes and favorites than any other one before, so I thought I'd celebrate by giving you guys some fun facts about the story that some of you might have missed, as well as answering some questions.

Facts:
1.) In Greek mythology, Selena (sometimes spelled Selene) is the name given to the goddess of the moon. Aeschylus called Selena "the eye of night". The Orphic Hymns give Selena horns and a torch, describing her as "all-seeing", as well as a lover of horses and of vigilance. Selena is commonly depicted with a crescent moon. Her Roman equivalent is, of course, Luna.

2.) In Greek mythology, Theia is depicted as the mother of Selena.

3.) Moon blindness is an actually condition that horses can have. It is the most common cause of blindness in horses.

4.) As I'm sure many of you have figured out, Black Spark was inspired by Judge Claude Frollo of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as Javert from Les Miserables.

Questions Answered
1.) Black Spark doesn't know who Selena is, and he didn't intentionally attack her parents in a bid to stop Celestia finding her. You can stop with the conspiracy theories.

2.) Theia is dead. She ain't coming back.

3.) The reason Black Spark hates gypsies will be revealed in future chapters. I promise.

4.) A gypsy in the Lunar Rebirth universe is a pony who travels with others in a close-knit band (usually made up of close family members and friends), going from town to town to sell their wares. They tend to wear clothing with their band's symbol upon it. While it is true that some gypsies are easy to spot, due to their manner of speaking, or the clothing they wear, most times it is hard to tell if a pony is a gypsy or not.

3.)"All-seeing" - ability to walk in other ponies dreams.
4.)Lover of horses - she's a pony, she's gonna love a pony.
5.)Lover of vigilance - the Lunar Court is in charge of the judicial system.
6.)Crescent moon - her cutie mark
7.)"Her Roman equivalent is, of course, Luna - Selena is Luna reincarnated.

I swear, Blackie, you put too much thought into your stories some times. :applejackconfused:

Nah, is just enuf:pinkiehappy:

I just realized something, why the fuck have I not been reading this?

I love these kinds of things.

3017864 Good question. It's amazing.

3017836 But that's the best part of writing a story. I've lost count of how many I've shoved into Your Human and You! :trollestia:

I imagine it's because the latest chapter has finally brought us to the actual meat of the story. I mean no disrespect, but when I first came across Lunar Rebirth, I very nearly gave up on it waiting for the protagonist I'd been promised to become capable of higher-order thought, let alone waiting for the story to actually adopt her perspective instead of showing it from the outside in. The entire first six chapters just felt like one long prologue to me. Chapters seven and eight introduced our actual main character and status quo, and only in chapter nine have we started to really decisively alter that status quo. :unsuresweetie:

and he didn't not intentionally attack her parents in a bid to stop Celestia finding her

Was that a mistake or were you being subtle?

3019360 That was 2 hours of sleep and 3 beers. :facehoof:
