Donuts with rum · 1:31am Mar 7th, 2015
As it turns out, they do exist. Not that I think the "alcohol + pastry" combo is a novel idea, but when I first stumbled into the idea, I never bothered to check whether there were any real recipes for it...

That said, some of you may already have guessed how any of this relates to my writing. Or, if you came here because I tagged the related story, then that helps too, I suppose. For those of you who belong to neither group: jelly donuts with rum in the filling are a core element of my second ever fic on this site: Warmth.
The whole "booze-filled pastry" thing seemed like a neat way to take the idea of Pony Joe (or whatever his name is now) a step further from how he appears in the Gala episode, where he gives moping dragons hot chocolate and donuts. One can only imagine what happens when legal aged ponies show up...
But Pony Joe himself is another story, and it's been something that I've wanted to talk about for a long time, but never had the patience to work giving everyone proper context. Now that things have changed, without going into further detail, allow me to present the work that inspired his behavior, as well as much of my fic in general. It's a scene from a Hungarian short film, embedded below:
Hope you enjoyed. Any thoughts?
That's the sort of Bartender I was. 8/10, Ineffable approved, but could be better.
