Questions for Lovestruck? · 1:14am Feb 11th, 2015
OK, so I'm writing a bit of the next chapter for Lovey, and I was wondering... Do any of y'all have questions for her? Like, I get that she's not my most liked character and everything, but I can still see that some of you guys are wee bit interested in her. So, do any of you guys have questions for dear ol' Lovey?
Are you sure anyone has questions about me? I mean, I don't think people are real interested...
SHHH, YES THEY DOOOOO AND THEY ARE. Look, this isn't just a "Ask Lovestruck" thing; I'll be answering questions, also. Refer to me as Lovey's mun~
Um... Isn't that a term for roleplay--
YES, BECAUSE TECHNICALLY I'M PLAYING YOU. Alright, let's get to the questions! And if you don't have any, here's some you can use! (Credit goes to riccardo-de-romanus on tumblr)

*sigh* OK, this isn't gonna end well...
Oh, shush! Now, let's get started!
EDIT: Oh, I also got 750 followers today! Whoo hoo!
Omg, Lovey my favorite background OC character! Shit no comments yet? Okay well I got some questions:
Do you have a possible crush on Cherry?
How badly do you want to punch Cherry when he gets on your nerves?
Do you like chocolate? If so what kind?
Doing anything special for Hearts and Hooves day with I don't know, Cherry?
Okay that is all I got I will bother you later when I have more questions
Edit: Also congrats on your followers! You're one of my favorite authors!

UM, NO. Sorry, cherie, but he isn't my type... I'm not into idiots.
Unbelievably so. I don't know why I put up with him so much... I guess I owe more credit to my tolerance than I thought.
Oh, I love chocolate! I love all sorts of chocolate, to be real honest. I like it with caramel, with nouget, with nuts-- Cherry, stop laughing! That's not what I meant and you know it!
Yeah, I'm gonna be going to the Crystal Empire. Cherry's coming because Cadence wants to meet him for some weird, unforeseeable reason... I hope this doesn't go bad.
Aw, thank you! It means so much to me when I get a new follower and I love it when you guys give me love! I wouldn't be here without you guys...
iambrony.dget.cc/mlp/gif/internethug.gif
Frig, now I'm tearing up... You guys are awesome~
2786773 Aw man! Poor, Cherry! Lol. (Cherry you better remember her favorite chocolate kind for reasons... )
One more question: Does Cherry having a litte ask thing like you are?
And no probs! But I am actually a follower of yours for months now!
2786784
You want to know about me? Whoa, cool! Looks like I got a couple of fans!
*sighs* Wonderful...
Oh, come on you two! Yeah, Cherry's answering questions, too! Go ahead and ask~
2786790 Okay, yay for Cherry:
Do you got a crush on Lovey?
How many romance novels have you written?
How old are you?
What is your favorite color?
:D
2786799
Wouldn't you like to know? *eyebrow waggle*
Oh, dozens! But, I have one series I've been working on that's definitely struck something on the romance genre...
22. I'm an Aquarius! I was born on Hearts and Hooves Day, actually! Guess I always had an affinity for romance, huh?
I'm a really big fan of pinks, purples, and reds! Though, I guess you could say the color pink has caught my attention rather recently~
Come have craic at the céilí with me?
I drink you under the table, then take you home, colleen.
2786840
Ha! You'd be surprised how well I can handle my liquor, cherie! Also, sorry hon, but you ain't gettin' none tonight, cherie!

Your loss~
So Lovey as somepony who is knowledgeable in the field of love have you ever considered writing a love story/romance like cherry?
P.S Congrats on the 750 followers .

I have considered it, believe me. I don't think anyone would really like my stories, though, since I don't really UNDERSTAND what the feeling of love is. I mean, I can see it and comprehend it, but I haven't exactly gotten there yet. Can't say the same for Cherry, though I guess it's safe to say he's the same way since his work is... I don't have nice word for it, so I'm just gonna be quiet.
Thanks! That means a lot, you guys!
All else being equal, when it comes to love poetry, do mares prefer alliterative verse or iambic pentameter?
I think we can all agree couplets are for wimps.
As a culture, are the Prench or Lyrish better lovers?
Yeah, I know, stereotypes.
I'm a sucker for love stories, but all my favorites have tragic endings.
My #1 favorites are the Lay of Leithian and Pyramus.
Would it be a turnoff for mares if they know my ideal relationship involves loosing them to some great tragic event, making a valiant, hopeless last stand and being reunited in the next world?

How the heck am I supposed to know?
...I don't know why, but I feel like somewhere in Harmony's head, Cherry has become very offended...
2786952
Yeah, stereotypes. But, my parents did spend their honeymoon in Paris, Prance, so yeah, I guess it is romantic... Then again, they got divorced, so...
Dear Lovey,
I have been engaged for almost a year. I am to be married next month. My fiancée’s mother is not only very attractive but really great and understanding. She is putting the entire wedding together and invited me to her place to go over the invitation list because it had grown a bit beyond what we had expected it to be. When I got to her place we reviewed the list and trimmed it down to just under a hundred...then she floored me.
She said that in a month I would be a married stallion and that before that happened, she wanted to have sex with me. Then she just stood up and walked to her bedroom and on her way said that I knew where the front door was if I wanted to leave. I stood there for about five minutes and finally decided that I knew exactly how to deal with this situation. I headed straight out the front door. There, leaning against my car was her husband, my father-in-law to be.
He was smiling. He explained that they just wanted to be sure I was a good kid and would be true to their little girl. I shook his hand and he congratulated me on passing their little test. Lovey, should I tell my fiancée what her parents did, and that I thought their "little test" was asinine and insulting to my character? Or should I keep the whole thing to myself including the fact that the reason I was walking out to my car was to get a condom?

Oh my god, you're one of those. Why... Why on earth do ponies insist on torturing themselves with sad stories? Well, I do enjoy some tragic love stories, but it mostly had to do with the content instead of the tragedy. You see, homosexual or interracial relationships weren't allowed to published in literature unless they had a tragic end, so a lot of books featuring same sex relationships were tragedies.
But, I guess it wouldn't be too big of a turnoff if they happen to be a fangirl. Those girls are totally infatuated with that stuff.
Tortured, brooding Byronic heroes with a thick shell: Yay or neigh?

THE BUCK KIND OF SCENARIO IS THAT? OK, first of all, YOUR FUTURE IN LAWS ARE BUCKING INSANE. That sort of thing is not to be taken lightly, and oh my god I cannot believe that they were being so irresponsible because if your fiancee had found out, she would have gotten hurt either way because if you HAD gone through with it, she would have been upset and felt betrayed. But, since you didn't, it's still so very messed up that her parents had so little faith in her choice of stallion that they actually concocted such a asinine scheme. Her parents literally just undermined her ability to make decisions as a pony.
Now, as for that last part... You better ask for that ring back before she sells it when your marriage/engagement goes to shit, because believe me, if you're so quick to agree to sleeping with your fiancee's mother, then you need to get out of that relationship for BOTH of your sake's. I find no humor in cheating, and the fact that you wanted to go through with it speaks VOLUMES of your character.
But, I'll give you points for deciding to use a condom because God knows what could happen if you didn't use one. I don't know where you or your soon-to-be-ex-fiancee's mother has been.

I don't know and I don't care.
(OOC, That's a very old joking anecdote that supposedly was sent to Dear Abby)
2787023
OK, I was about to get REAL mad for second... Thanks for clearing that up.
A question for love struck, what knowledge do you have of other cultures practices in regards to romance/relationships? Have they been a topic of any study on your part at all?
For Cherry Fizzy, on a similar train of thought have you ever created a ficitonal culture with different romance/relationship habits than ponies?
Here's a brief sample of what was originally a fictional cultures wedding ceremony, although some fans of the series eventually recreated the ceremonies down to dressing as the species involved.

Surely, you can agree that Greek Tragedy is at least a zillion times better than the ridiculous "courtly love" and sickeningly overromanticized "chivalry" nonsense the Middle Ages troubadours churned out.
There's a reason that the most famous examples that have survived today like in the Canturbury Tales and Donne's The Flea and Don Quixote are the stories that lampoon and satirize the genre. Even SCA members who revel in such things don't take it seriously. They're more likely to dress as a Samurai or Praetorian for a Renaissance Faire than that Lancelot/Guinevere/Eleanor of Aquitaine crap.
I'm mostly a fan of Heroic Epics and Romanticism (not to be confused with romance. Seriously, people who get romanticism and romance confused pisses me off far worse than fools who don't know the difference between parody and satire or think the Divine Comedy was written in Latin. Idiots.)
edit. Yes, I know Don Quixote was written 400-500 years after the High Middle Ages, but the point stands.
On the topic of love
trianglespolygons, are you familiar with Haganai NEXT?I generally don't like Harem comedies, but this one has some really intriguing dynamics, even though the ending is a bit depressing.
1 guy is in a club with several other girls. The two main girls can't stand eachother, but stay in the club to be close to him. It's pretty clear they both have unspoken crushes on him. He is friendly to everyone and tries to keep the peace between the two pima donnas. Then in the last episode, one of the girls finally lets slip that she loves him and ruins the equilibrium they all had. The protagonist is freaked out and uncomfortable and so he stops coming to the club and begins actively avoiding the others. Doubtless, from a female point of view, his chickening out and avoiding the matter comes across as cowardly. Indeed, Rika, one of the other girls and one of the ones who doesn't have a crush on him confronts him about that and beats him up and shames him. He returns to the club, but his other suitor has decided to leave the club herself and go on a soul-searching journey. She comes back in the light novels, that I haven't read yet.
Dear Lovestruck
I'm writing to you today because I seek your advice. There's a mare that I'm deeply in love with, and I'd like to take the next step with her. Equestria is somewhat... new to me, and there are many customs that I still don't really understand. I want to propose to her, and I was wondering if you had advice on what I should do.
I've tried asking my friends, and will i appreciate their efforts to help, let's just say that their ideas were... interesting, to say the least. (I don't know about you, but proposing while skydiving is not my idea of romantic.)
I tried using some books in her library to research the topic, but she's a clever mare and I don't want her to catch on to what I have planned.
Any ideas you could provide would be welcome, Princess Cadence praised you quite highly when I asked her about it. I just want to be able to make my Twilight happy...
Sincerely,
Flare Blitz.

Well, I think the first thing I need to establish is that you probably DON'T want to do it in a public place. The reason why is because a lot of the time when someone proposes in a public place, one of the only reasons the proposed says yes is because they feel like they HAVE to. There have been many cases where ponies have ended up putting an end to engagements because they felt like they weren't in a position to say no.
Public proposals are actually highly manipulative.
I would advise that you DON'T make it a big spectacle for everyone to see-- unless, you know she loves that sort of thing. If not, then go to a private place, perhaps something you two have a history with. Make an event of it, perhaps a recollection of things you two have done together, and when you know the time is right, propose. There's not a specific formula for how to tell your beloved that you love them, and there's certainly never a formula for how you should go about telling them you want to spend your life with them.
2789810 - Thanks for the advice~
Also, one for Cherry. Have you ever had a marefriend before?
2790016
Yep! I have, actually. She was a writer, too, and she helped me edit my first few drafts for my writing! Things broke off when she told me some business about me "not being the right pony for her". I wonder what she meant...
As for me, I am a single pringle. And I might always be.
Same~!
Marvelously appropriate that they were planning to open 50 Shades of Hay on Hearts and Hooves day, but for the sake of getting a full "opening weekend," they pushed it forward a day... to FRIDAY THE 13TH, wouldn't you say?
2792865
UGH. I hate that book and I know that movie is going to be awful. Putting the awful writing aside, that relationship is unhealthy and extremely damaging to show to women and men... They're going to think that Christian STALKING Ana is "charming", that Christian forcing Ana into situations she isn't comfortable with "powerful", and so much other awful things...
No questions, just a meta-comment, this is adorable. There used to be alot of tumblr blogs about this sort of thing with the princesses or other characters and they were great. I'm glad someone is still doing something like that. Reminds me of when I first got into the crazy ride that has been this fandom. Thank you.
Actually I guess I lied, I do have a question, what would you say was the best part of Cadance and Shining Armor's love story?
2813259
I really liked the whole simplicity of it all, to be honest. It was an actual fairy tale come to life, and in this instance, love did conquer evil. Of course, things would have been better if Shining had listened to Princess Twilight, but you know, little things.
2813307 Interesting but I kind of meant what event was most romantic do you think?
2813311
Ugh, OK, fine, maybe I like some of the little romantic tropes. I mean, the whole rose petals leading a trail up to the bedroom is kinda been there done that, but... But it's nice to know ponies still like to keep these traditions alive for the sake of romance. Of course, you haven't been on the inside of the fairy tale love story, so I guess I'll let you in on some stuff...
Cadence kicks in her sleep a lot, and Shining sometimes has to sleep on the couch. Sometimes they both read the same book at the same time to see who finishes it faster. Sometimes when they fight, they spoil a book for the other as payback, then they apologize with cookies and ice cream later on. And, sometimes, when one of them had a rough day at work, the other will do something silly to cheer them up. Did you know I once walked in on them spraying each other with silly string because Cadence felt bummed out that day?
OK, so yeah, I may have lied a bit about the whole fairy tale thing. Sometimes, you don't need a prince in shining armor to come save you or for your princess to fly to the rescue. Sometimes, love is just... sharing a slice of cake with each other after a bad day. So, yeah, that's why I like their story. They may be heroes and they may be a part of a fairy tale life, but they're so much more than that.
2813318
Hard to say, since Cadence is absolutely enthralled by romance. She's rather good at putting things together and she's usually the one who initiates the better part of their romantic escapades. The reason they only got married so recently was 'cause, well, Shining wasn't very good at asking her out on dates, even after he gained confidence after high school. Though, I really think that the proposal was beautiful!
Shining had set it up at the old school, claiming there was some emergency. He asked me to help with the planning, and I made sure that it was all nice and private for them both. I was surprised, really, that Shining was taking initiative for once and was actually making the first move. Oh, Cadence was sure surprised, too! Of course, I didn't really stay that long after 'cause, well, there are some things that students aren't supposed to see their teachers do...
2792942 On the flip side, what do you think is a really good movie for the lovey-dovey season? Something positive and uplifting and genuinely fun?
Also a question for Cherry Fizz, what do you like most about yourself? I didn't want you to feel left out!
2816553
Any Disney movie will suffice, I assure you.
2816561
Yay, I was remembered! Also, dude, have you seen how good I look in tux? If so, then there's your answer.
Cherry: do you understand the meaning of obsession? Also what's your favorite color?
2819140
It's that thing where you hold nothing in your thoughts except one thing, right? Also, I'm a really big fan of pinks, purples, and reds! Though, I guess you could say the color pink has caught my attention rather recently~
Uh, I think I gotta go to the bathroom...
2819198
hmm, and I guess you can say the color blue has caught my attention.
For the fabulous Fizz: what's your favorite movie?
