Adventures in Twilight's Gall Bladder, read by ShadowOfCygnus · 8:29pm Jan 28th, 2015

Recently somepony else blogged about this reading by ShadowOfCygnus of "Scootaloo and Celestia: Adventures in Twilight's Gall Bladder" by Admiral Biscuit:

I would not have liked this story had I read it. I didn't read it because its description made me think I would not merely not like it, but would actively dislike it. But I clicked on the video, because the person who recommended it said it was great, and because I read a lot of comments from AB.

ShadowOfCygnus's reading, at high speed and supplemented by cleverly ridiculous Pythonesque animation, showed me how wrong I was and that this story was full of humor that I had not been able to see. It gave me vertigo to read the story after seeing the animation; looking for the humor in it was like one of those 3D pictures that you stare at and can't see and can't see and then you see it and you can't not see it anymore.

I played the YouTube video at 1.5 x normal speed, which is how I usually watch videos. I think this one works better that way, or at least at 1.25 x.

I thought it was PresentPerfect whose blog I saw it on, but I don't see it in his recent posts. So thanks, whoever you are.

Nope! I've never read this story nor checked out this reader. I might have to actually watch the video though, given your description. Madness! D:

It was the EverfreeNorthwest's fanfic spotlight #19.

I didn't know you could speed up YouTube videos until. My life just got that much better. :pinkiehappy:

I liked that! A reading (plus video) of something can make all the difference.

Case in point:

Seriously you will not regret watching this.

2754688 Yes, I will TOTALLY take credit for that (being the editor of the EFNW Fanfic Spotlight)! But for the same reasons you say. I never thought I'd like it from the title, but the reading sold me on what turned out to be an excellent fic.

2754073 Yes! I really wish my DVR had this feature. Back when I used to pirate everything, I once ended up about two months behind on The Daily Show, and watched all of them at 1.5x via mplayer trying to catch up. Finally everyone sounded like they were talking at normal human speeds to me. Save Jon Stewart himself, who talks fast enough that I had to actually focus to keep up with at that multiplier.

The hilarious bit was a roommate at the time, after trying to do work in the same room for about an hour, just snapped. "Holy crap! What the hell are you listening to? It's all gibberish in that fast forward thing you're using and it's driving me crazy!" I switched to headphones and went to 1.75x.
