Critical Need for Editing Assistance on Unraveling a Rainbow · 3:19am Jan 27th, 2015

It is already plastered above the story that's been in Hiatus for far too long, but I really need some editing assistance, even if it is a temporary thing. I've wanted to get someone to start on reading what I've got for a month now, but it seems my previous help is MIA. I want to re post the first 3 chapters--well post the prologue and the first 2 redone chapters--ASAP for you guys. I really do! However, no one has yet responded for my pleas for some assistance on this one so I'm calling out to those who are following the story, I need help! And NOT just a proofreader! For the final flipping time ya'll:

Proofreading =/= Editing!

Editors are the folks who call into question the story itself. With hearts of steel and their pen ready to rip the work to shred, an editor will dissect and destroy any and all things they find wrong with the story itself. Proofreaders just tell me when I spelled Rainbow incorrectly and when I missed twelve commas. Helpful, but not when the little things aren't the issue. I have no idea if X or Y plot point is being discussed properly at Z time or if it might be suited to a better character. Maybe I'm being to cryptic with things again and need to be trust the reader with a bit more information. That's what killed my first attempt at Unraveling a Rainbow.

I don't know any awesome editors personally and I'm not in the habit of banging down doors of folks like Cerulean Voice begging to take time from their probably already busy schedule for some schmuck they don't even know. I am literally at the end of my rope as I can't attract the attention of any of my editors or a good editor that I don't know. I either have terrible networking skills, or it is expected to cold call folks here on the site, and if you've followed me in any of my blog posts, cold calling in the real world as a job was a part of why my work fell apart a few months back and like hell am I going to feel comfortable doing it here.

You want desperation? This is how trapped I feel right now on this work, no joke.

I want my work to be of the highest quality possible, but I simply can't do it on my own. Bias is crippling! I need someone to workshop it at least a little bit because I know I messed up somewhere. I had to! Even the best authors in the world don't get anywhere without someone to reign in their ideas. Even if you know a guy who knows a guy, at least give me a name and something to introduce myself to them with to let them know I'm not just some random lurker. Does it look like I'm begging? It is because I am begging!

Yeah, sure. Add my Skype, m8.

I'm never done it before, but I can try my hand at it. Some friends say I'm great at killing their excitement for a project and turning it into fear when I point out things they didn't notice, so hopefully I'm not going to be bad.

Update: Getting some help now from Sexy Pudgy Pinkie Pie who is currently covering my work with enough blood to down a grown elephant. If first impressions of... (insert gender specific pronoun here) are any indication, I'm looking forward to picking up the mangled pieces of my work.

Would help, if I thought I had any sort of spare time for it. Damn you, university!
