As the Sun Rises: The Trilogy? · 7:16pm Jan 18th, 2015

Yup, ideas like this one are what I get for editing fanfiction with ConningOfficer at one in the morning. :derpytongue2: So now I've spent two days with this idea in my head, and... I like it. Or at least, I think I like it. If I were to go through with my plan, the second story would be Twilight talking to Celestia about her conversation with Sunset, and the third story would feature both Sunset and Celestia. However, I know that sequels are the one thing that every generic commenter wants to get, and subsequently complains about once received. I suppose what I'm asking is would you folks be game for a trilogy of one-shots? Is it a good idea, am I grabbing onto past popularity because I have no new ideas, or both?

Also, I'm bored, and it's finals week. I don't want to study. Spam me with nonsense in the comments?

Hey now!

That said, it might be better to make the future chapters all part of the same story rather than separate stories.

You could make side stories that relate to the story, perhaps.

You usually save me from my poor ideas and excess enthusiasm! As the Sun Rises is a great story and has potential for more development. I think you're smart for not diving headlong into a monster story like someone else we know. :twilightoops: :pinkiehappy:

We know each others' headcanon well by now, so you know I think that Twilight is an integral part of any story involving a growing, changing Sunset Shimmer. I say go for it, but I'm firmly biased in your favor. :rainbowdetermined2:

Do it!!!:pinkiehappy:

I say do it! It would be fun to read.

Random nonsense? Alrighty.

Have you ever wanted to sprout wings and fly?

What would you do if a pony jumped out of your screen and tried eating your chair?

Does this count as nonsense?

I think it does. I'm good at nonsense.

What's your favorite story? Genre? AU story?

That good, or more nonsense questions?

2731062 Hey now, I said generic, and from your comments I have the feeling you're a bit more eloquent than the typical "GIVE ME MOAR!" type of internet commenter. And you bring up a good point that I hadn't considered. The only thing that concerns me about posting the sequels as chapters is the significant amount of time that passes between them, but I do believe that adding chapters to the same story is the ideal. I'll see what happens as I write. Thanks for the suggestion!

2731089 Ooh, there's an idea! A whole universe of possibilities... :raritystarry:

2731141 If you need to be saved from enthusiasm of all things, I think it's safe to say you're better off than most people. And I think I'm finding myself being dragged into the vortex of SunLight shipping, so headcanon accepted! Although, from what I have mapped out in my head, Twilight won't be doing the reforming so much as standing in for the audience. If anything, the trilogy will be similar to The Changing Tides in terms of coming to a gradual acceptance. Thanks for the input!

2732172 I'm a thousand words in! I think I'm going to do it! Wooooo! :yay:

2734013
*Yes, if it means I wouldn't have to buy fake wings for my Celestia cosplay. :pinkiehappy:
*Join in, of course! I've never tried eating a chair before, but if a pony thinks it's a good idea, then it must be a good idea! :scootangel:
*You are super-duper-fantabulous at nonsense! I wish more people were better at nonsense! I'm eating raisins! We should start a class for teaching people nonsense! The end of time is coming! I love exclamation points! JiemoahmoigbnoaoioijOJ!
*Gasp! :pinkiegasp: That's like asking me to pick favorite children! Okay, favorite book overall would be Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, because I can just keep coming back to it, year after year. Favorite book currently is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, because Cath's life is the life I want to have so badly! Favorite fanfiction... gah, too hard! Favorite multichapter fanfiction would be Sunsets Over a Gala by TheMessenger, because best OTP is best. Favorite one-shot is Moonlight Palaver by Carabas, because if you do not have a power-hungry crown facing off against a tyrant named Fairy Floss of all names, you are not doing political comedy correctly. Favorite AU is Sunshine and Fire by BornIn1142 because of its fascinating premise and worldbuilding. Favorite genre is slice of life, A) because I don't have time for 100K epics anymore, and B) I think you find out who a character really is in those seemingly little moments. *takes deep breath* Phew!
*Ask ALL the random questions. :pinkiecrazy:

Thanks so much for your input, everyone!

2734103

*Good reason.:derpytongue2:

*So true.

*Thank you! That's a good idea. We should make a group for that or something.

*Woo, that's a lot. And that AU has been added to my RL list.:raritywink:

*Who is best pony, and why? Princess? Background pony? Mane Six? Non-pony? Pet? Villain?

*Why do teachers give students homework? 'Cause, honestly, this stuff is pure torture. Really.

2734119

Just did.

Celestia is best pony. Smart-sounding reason: Because she's a role model, has had to harbor a thousand years of loneliness and guilt that everyone seems to gloss over, is versatile in fanfiction, and is underrated in comparison to the legions of Luna followers. Actual reason: Because her mane is pretty.

Best background pony? Lyra. Smart-sounding reason: Because I wrote a fanfiction with her and fell in love with the free-range, self-confident, adventure-seeking, English-loving character I made her. Actual reason: Because I like her mane.

Mane Six? Pinkie Pie. Smart-sounding reason: Because she's underrated, and I think she has the potential for real character depth. Her goal in life is simple - to bring others happiness - and she lives out that life with an innocence and quiet intelligence that suggests a great wisdom and a beautiful mind. Actual reason: The versatility of that mane!

Non-Pony? Discord. Smart-sounding reason: Imagine what it'd be like to go into his head and pick apart his psyche! Dumb reason: He's necessary for my Dislestia ship. Even dumber reason: He wiggles like a noodle! Actual reason: Facial hair.

Pet? Opalescence. Smart-sounding reason: I love cats, and would probably just lay around and get fat like she does. Oh, and she has a deep and well-developed character... yeah. Actual reason: That bow in her hair! So cute!

Villain? Chrysalis. Smart-sounding reason: She demonstrates how a pure-hearted reason like trying to feed one's kingdom can lead to ruin after a series of wrong decisions. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, after all. Actual reason: She has-- Okay, can we all just sit down and accept that I am a stereotypical girl, and as such, I would really, really like to go out to Target, buy dolls of these ponies, and brush their manes? Brushie brushie brushie!

*looks down at Chemistry homework* Because apparently teachers think we have nothing to do with our lives? Because, as we all know, the second kids are unproductive, they turn to drugs and violence! They definitely don't have a plethora of creative hobbies to keep them occupied! No, that would be silly! Haha, ha, that'd be as silly as teachers trying to ship me with the most annoying kid in the class! :pinkiecrazy: Oh wait... :ajbemused:
... I carry baggage from grammar school. (Every. Single. Seating. Chart. In. Every. Single. Grade.) I swear, they swap shipping charts in the teacher's lounge.

Your turn!
Favorite music artist? Song? Genre? (Applies to the brony fandom, if you want.)
Favorite piece of fan art?
Nicest thing someone has said about your fanfiction?
Fanfiction pet peeves?

2734237 Blasphemy! Heresy! Treachery! Luna is obviously best pony. :pinkiecrazy:

Best background pony is Misty Fly, because she's adorable and underrated. (Real reason: she was super fun to write.)

Mane Six is Twilight because she's really smart and she does the exact same thing I do when presented with failure or tardies. (PANIC!!!!) But Pinkie is second best. (We have similar reasons for this one.:raritywink:)

Non-Pony is Chryssi, because she's holy. (And pretty.)

Best pet is Gummy, because like really. *Blink*

Villain is Nightmare Moon because she's pretty and her backstory is awesome.

But all your reasons are wonderful as well.:derpytongue2:

I know! As someone who plays basketball and horseback rides (practice five days a week, two and a half hours for each, although horseback riding usually slows down during basketball season), I find it all utterly ridiculous. Seriously, what's the point of it all? We practice the material in class, not at home! Only studying for tests at home makes sense, and math. Everything else? Suffer a slow death in the deepest pits of Tartarus.:twilightangry2: Like, right now I'm procrastinating on English, and it's all extremely stupid. Like, who the heck cares about the Latin prefixes and suffixes in the vocab words?

Your teachers sound lovely.:facehoof:

I can't choose favorites, but I'd probably say Invisible by Disciple. Evanescence is my favorite music artist, and d.notive my favorite brony music artist. And I listen to a lot of different songs, so I have no favorite genre.

Oh, geez, I can't answer that. I have a library on here called Perfection, if you really want to know.:facehoof:

This was on my most recent one:

I really liked this story and all of the alternate world terms that really gave it charm. And random question, is the main character Misty Fly because I really dug how you wrote her. I could instantly follow along without thinking what's this and that.

I was very proud. Oh, and someone once compared my writing to Shakespeare, but I don't think I'd go that far.:twilightblush:

Fast pacing, run on sentences, OOC characters, over-dramatization done in a way that makes me want to slam my head in a wall, bad grammar in general, cliche everything, anything that makes me roll my eyes or give my screen a deadpan stare... yeah, I have a lot of them.

And I just realized. We should probably make rules for the group. Y'know, stuff like this:

1. Be nice.
2. Don't offend someone on purpose or say anything purposefully offensive. If you do offend someone, apologize and move on.
3. Keep things SFW. We've got kids here, people!
4. Other than keeping the moral values that Elements emphasize in mind, you can post anything. Requests for advice, help, random nonsense, pretty pictures, fun songs, cool stories, anything at all as long as it's SFW and follows the rules.

*Me repeating stuff five times*

*a wild Cadence appears*

Luna is obviously best pony.

Gasp! To war! *

Evanescence is my favorite music artist

Okay, everything's fixed now! I remember when I went on an Evanescence craze about two years ago. Nowadays, Of Monsters and Men is fighting to kick Florence and the Machine off the top spot, but I still finding myself listening to The Only One, Good Enough, and even some of those lesser known songs like October and The Last Song I'm Wasting On You.

* Honestly, a full-scale pony war on an MMORPG sounds great. You'd have your favorite character living in a fortress, and you'd have to team up with other fans in order to get a flag of that character from an enemy fortress. Maybe I'm just being random again, but I think that'd make some money. No wait! A shipping war. Now that I want to see. All those pretty flames... :pinkiecrazy:

Seriously, what's the point of it all? We practice the material in class, not at home!

*standing ovation*
Teacher: No sleeping in class! Sleeping is for home!
Me: Excuse me, schoolwork is supposed to be for school, and do you know what I do at midnight at home? Well, it's definitely not sleeping.
Also, I'm glad you mentioned math as exception. I have an infuriating relationship with math. Half the time I'm thinking "I should have tested into pre-Calculus," the other half I'm thinking "Am I holding the book upside down?" and the third half is me wanting to shout "Real life situations? Do you want to know what you do in a real life situation when you have 20 feet of fencing for a lawn with an area of 50 feet cubed? You buy enough fencing." :facehoof:

Yeah, I like those rules! I'll add them.... now! *wooshes off through the internet*

2736301 Cadenza's pretty cool. (Her name is pretty, and her mane. Name mane name mane name mane)

DIE, SUN TYRANT!!!

Florence and the Machine is awesome! Except I know, like, four of her songs, but whatever.:derpytongue2:

Yeah, that's pretty much me and my friends. Being nocturnal definitely doesn't help the sleeping in class problem, though...:rainbowwild:

My grade's only allowed up to Algebra 1. The woes of a seventh grader. But I'm definitely not looking forward to geometry next year.

I know! Those questions are so stupid!

Yay!

And sorry for the late reply, I wasn't notified.:applejackconfused: (I think you forgot the >> thing.)

2736301 I just noticed that our group has another member.:yay:

Have you fallen off the planet?

2747063 *clings to the edge of the earth*. Hi! Sorry for falling! The past few days have been either studying for finals or meeting up with people to celebrate their wonderful end. But now I've come home to the internet in order to numb the impending panic of having to start second semester on Monday.

Woah, you're in seventh grade? That's a good year - old enough to command respect without having to worry about testing into high school. Enjoy it. Oh, and don't worry about Geometry. The worst it can do is bore you to death.

That image is simply wonderful.

Yes! We have dragged while kicking and screaming converted another to our ranks!

Anyway, how are you?

2747279 Yay! You haven't fallen! It's alright-- I know how school gets.:applejackunsure:

Yeah. And that's only if you're well-liked, but since I hate most of my grade and most of my grade hates me... yeah. Not much respect there, unless it comes to academic abilities. Then-- I WIN EVERYTHING! And boring me to death is actually very bad.:fluttershysad:

It is. It's perfect.:rainbowlaugh:

Huzzah! How many points do we receive?!:pinkiecrazy:

Bleh. Tired, pretty stressed, doing homework, upset at my family, and I just realized that the Spelling Bee is next week and I haven't even prepared. Need I say any more?

How've you been?

2747368 Well gosh, your class is stupid. Life hint: you make friends with the academic one so they can help you not drop out of school and become generally pathetic. :derpytongue2: I don't know if things ever got to hatred in my seventh grade days. The lunch table groupings were carved in stone, so if I didn't cross the boundaries, I was left alone for the most part. Then again, I was really socially obvious at the time, so perhaps everyone did hate me, and I never knew. :twilightoops:

To be fair, Geometry is 45 minutes of me planning out fanfiction, so it's not that bad.

The points are OVER 9000!
...I'll see myself out. :twilightsheepish:

Nope, "bleh" sums it up rather well. :fluttershysad: **internet hugs** We all have those days. Hope tomorrow will be kinder to you. And you have a spelling bee? Aww, that's cute! Hey, I usually make my way through life without preparing for anything, and I turned out okay... I think. You sound smart; I don't think you have much to worry about. :raritywink:

I've been alright, thanks for asking. I started out irritated at everything that has a pulse, but I mellowed out over the course of the afternoon. Now I'm tired, because prolonged social interaction drains me, but it's a good kind of tired. Definitely not prepared to start up the new semester with Speech class, though. I don't even know if I'm excited or terrified of it. :derpyderp2: Oh well, I suppose I'll wing it as always! :scootangel:

2747633 They are. Extremely. It would probably go the other way around. I've had people work with me on projects just so that I could do the work for them. And they don't actually hate me, just really really dislike me.

Yeah, but I'd probably have to listen or I wouldn't know what was going on and then I'd do badly on the test and then my mom would get upset and then...

you know what? I'll stop that train wreck of thought before it happens.

Woohoo! I win at life!:yay:

*Internet hugs back* Doubt it, cause I have school, which means more homework and more being exhausted and more being stressed and more dealing with people, and I'm going back to my mom's house. Yeah... I actually passed the entrance exam with the highest score in the grade, but my mom would get upset with me if I didn't study. She thinks I panicked last year because I hadn't studied, even though it was actually the crowd freaking me out. And I guess I could be called smart, but I do dumb things sometimes.

'Course. Yeah, social interaction is usually pretty draining. And you take a Speech class?

2747703 I cannot convey to you the number of times I've been in that situation. It's actually gotten to the point when people know that all they have to do is nod once or twice while I do all the planning. :ajbemused:

Okay then, 44 minutes of fan fiction writing.

Yes, you do! Wooooooooooooo! *explodes into confetti*

Yeah, Mondays generally suck. :fluttershysad: I'm with you on that one. Although, hopefully today will just be us going over the final exam. *shrugs* And congrats on having the highest score in the grade! My high school gives out scholarships for those who test into the top one percent on the enterance exam. (How generous of them, taking the 12 thousand dollars of tuition down to nine thousand. :ajbemused:) Anyway, doing well on those kinds of standardized tests will definitely help you.

Mom: How are your grades?
Me: Fine.
Mom: You have above a 3.0 GPA?
Me: It's a 4.4.
Mom: So the school will still take 3000 off tutition?
Me: Yup.
Mom: Good job, honey!
Yeah, my parents generally stay out of my school life. I couldn't imagine them getting mad if I didn't study. But hey, at least it shows that your mom cares.

And I guess I could be called smart, but I do dumb things sometimes.

This. This is my life right here. I could get a 197 on the PSAT, but ask me to cook some pasta, and the house will spontaneously combust. :derpytongue2:

Starting in two periods, I do! I'm pretty nervous for the class based on what other people are saying, but I doubt he'd assign us a speech on the first day.
...Right?
Haha, I'm kidding (sort of); I think I'll be okay.

Oh, gym's going to end soon! Hope you're having a good day so far! Also, maybe we should move to a PM...
