Where Did the Pony Fics Go?

Short answer: Anime destroys lives.

Longer answer: ...Yeah, still anime. But mostly because I need a change of pace. So no, it's not because of some negative experience in the bronydom, or because the show sucks. After watching the two-part premiere, I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the new season of MLP, and out of curiosity, I may check out the third Equestria Girls movie. Beyond that... probably not. After all, I've been a part of the fandom for more than two years. And I don't want to say the show's gone stale... I just need a change of pace, is all.

So what have I been doing in the past two months since uploading a story here? Well, besides binge-watching shows, I've mostly been rekindling my obsession over the anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. (Seriously, people, go watch it; it's great.) I've already written two Homura-centric fics, Human Nature and Of Heroes and Blood in the Sunlight, with a third story, The Other End of the Hourglass, coming soon. I may also write for other shoujo anime (Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Revolutionary Girl Utena, etc), and maybe something for Your Lie in April (my current favorite anime of 2015). But for now and the near future, I think it's mostly going to be Madoka Magica. Around late May/early June, I hope to come out with a multi-chapter story that takes place after the third Madoka movie, basically serving as the continuation/ending to the Madoka series that we all need but Studio Shaft won't deliver. **grumble, grumble** How will that story work out for me? Well, considering the shit ton of confusion the Rebellion movie left in its wake, combined with the popular fan analysis that the movie equates fanfiction writers with the Devil, it'll be interesting, for sure! For better or for worse, I'm excited to tackle the project over summer break. A tentative summary for those interested:

After having her memory wiped in a mysterious realm known only as The Center of the Cycles, a lost and confused Akemi Homura comes to Kaname Madoka knowing only one thing: Homura is the God of the universe. Yet in a world without miracles or magic, Madoka remains unconvinced. With the Incubators unaccounted for, it’s up to Homura to bring miracles and magic to the Puella Magi and convince Madoka of her true identity, all before the coming of Walpurgisnacht, the day Homura is destined to die.

Does this mean that I'm never going to write another pony fic? Of course not! I barely know what I'm doing half the time; it's very possible I could wake up tomorrow, say that Snips and Snails are the best thing since sliced bread, and churn out twenty fanfics about them. But in all seriousness, I do love this show, and I think part of me wants to ease out of the fandom while I still cherish it. That's all; no big drama story. I just felt people should know where I'm at right now. But if I don't produce any more content, I'd like to say that I can't properly express my gratitude to all of you for supporting me as I've grown as a writer, and to this show and its crazy passionate fandom for.... cheesy line incoming... teaching me what it really means to be a true friend to others.
