    um

    …I'm on hiatus, obviously.

I haven't been motivated to write fanfiction lately. I feel like it's a habit I need to break out of, and that if I attempt it again, I will find it difficult to write original stories for months. I have no idea if that's true, but it's hard to shake that feeling.

    Obama Returns Act I Done

Act I of Obama Returns is now done. There may be some pacing issues, but for the moment, I'm going to leave them be.

Because it's at this point that shit gets real.

I've been holding this back for a while, but if there's any time to reveal it, it's now.

The Obamaverse is basically a giant mystery series.

    Monthly schedule

...working out great, isn't it? :(

Well, I'm out of school now, so you can actually expect stuff this month!

    Probably.

    Maybe.

If I don't get anything out this month, I'm an idiot. :|

So apparently I'm popular now · 6:56am Jan 17th, 2015

Well, holy crap, I got featured. And the story's the second "hottest" on Fimfiction. Whatever that means. Still not quite sure.

Well, I suppose some sappiness is in order.

First of all, I'd like to thank my editors, LeoneHaxor and Chaotic Serenity. Check out their stuff! It's pretty cool. They've helped me get through a lot of tough times lately, and without them I probably would've never written this much.

Second of all, I'd like to thank everyone that liked and commented on this story. I never would've expected it to become this popular.

If you liked this story, you might like my next story, Obama Returns to Equestria. It's the sequel to my first story, Obama Goes to Equestria, and the epic finale to what has somehow grown into a nine story long series, the Obamaverse. I've been planning it for almost 2 years now, and if I do my job right, it's going to be pretty epic, so stay tuned for that.

Not sure if I will write any more one-shots or not. Sorry. The Obamaverse is kind of my main focus. After writing over 100,000 words for the thing, I'm kind of in too deep now.

Thanks,
a human

The featured box is built around the number of views per (unit of time), with likes and dislikes also counting in there in some form of weighted algorithm. It's all about views in a small time frame.

A story with an interesting cover-art and description, or seeming quirky and interesting, is much more likely to get into the featured box (and higher in it) than a story that's better in all technical aspects (or even in most ways that matter).

Your story is solid and has been blessed with an unusual concept and an intriguing title, the sheer "Oh you've got to be kidding me" of it means people click it to see what it's actually about, and it's a solid story so it gets a like/favorite, so the story goes up in the featured box in comparison to others.

This isn't a bad thing! But it's just a(n admittedly vague) description of how the featured box works

(Also, all that said, congrats!)

Agreed, my best stories have never gotten close to featured while my worst all have. "There Is No Luna" was awesome though. It was actually original and made me, someone who hates reading, want to read.
